What we want We are seeking **Academic Mentors** for students in the Athletics Department at Texas A&M. The Academic Mentor will develop strategies for student-athlete’s individual learning style, working with assigned student-athletes to develop a professional relationship to maximize their academic potential. This is a part-time/temporary opportunity with non-standard hours, and a Bachelor's Degree is required. **Qualifications** **Required Education and Experience** * Bachelor’s degree. * Experience working with students in an academic environment. **Required Knowledge, Abilities, and Skills:** * Must possess strong organizational and communication skills. * Ability to multi-task and work cooperatively with others. * Willing to work non-standard hours. **Preferred Qualifications:** * Master’s degree. * Experience in the education system. **Responsibilities:** * Work with assigned student-athletes to develop a professional relationship to maximize their academic potential. * Provide general instruction in study skills, note-taking skills, test-taking skills. * Guide student-athletes in the development of time management and in developing organizational skills. * Develop strategies for the student-athlete’s individual learning style. * Create daily progress reports using on-line system and may performs other duties as assigned. * Collaborate with Scholastic Supervisors and Learning Specialists about progress and individual student needs. **What you need to know** **Salary:** Compensation will be commensurate to selected hire's experience. **Cover Letter/Resume:** A cover letter and resume are strongly recommended.
