SALARY $61,733.50 - $77,166.85 JOB SUMMARY Under general direction, this position is responsible for the planning, directing, organizing and scheduling of staff and multiple facilities to accommodate the youth and adults athletics programs. **ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:** * Plan, direct, organize, and schedule staff and multiple facilities to accommodate a wide variety of youth and adult athletics leagues, tournaments, special events, classes, camps and other programs involving various recreational and competitive sports on a community wide basis; and, the ability to instruct officiate classes or leagues as required. * Direct and manage employee and volunteer resources at various indoor/outdoor program venues to ensure customer safety and satisfaction. * Develop program services and to prepare, track and reconcile annual budgets to ensure that cost recovery targets are met; and, the ability to manage financial related processes and procedures involving payroll and purchasing. * Determine and recommend maintenance and capital improvement solutions, determine facility and programmatic needs based on customer comments and preferences and deploy appropriate action in response to any deficiencies. * Select, hire, train, direct, and evaluate full-time and part-time subordinates, set work standards, monitor work progress and inspect work upon completion; and, the ability to monitor and direct volunteer coaches during sports programming. **OTHER JOB FUNCTIONS:** * Operate integrative computer systems involving the City's Purchasing system, HRIS system, and financial system; and, the ability to analyze and report on key budgetary and program measures. * Solve problems through the use and application of various process improvement tools and methods; and, the ability to facilitate process teams to develop and recommend improvements. * Ability to effectively determine program marketing and logistics; and, the ability to prepare and facilitate presentations to management, citizen groups, and committee groups, boards, and corporate venues. **MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:** Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required: * Knowledge of principles and rules of facility operations and athletics programming. * Knowledge of techniques of supervision to plan, assign, coordinate, direct, and monitor personnel (including volunteers) and programs. * Knowledge of basic marketing and promotional strategies. * Knowledge of ADA and its effect on sports programs. * Knowledge of the principles, practices, and methods of administering athletic programs and events. * Knowledge of the rules and regulations of sports officiating on a local, state, and national level. * Knowledge of budgetary principles as applied to athletics. * Skill in effective oral and written communication. * Skill in office management principles. * Skill in managing multiple tasks. * Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with other city employees, athletic agencies and local citizens. * Skill in advance usage of Microsoft Office applications. * Skill in determining facility maintenance repair and upkeep requirements. * Ability to determine customer needs and facilitate solutions to customer service requests. * Ability to plan, organize, and evaluate sports programs at all levels. * Ability to plan, organize, train, develop, evaluate and monitor employees and volunteers. * Ability to operate a motorized vehicle. Ability to lift and exert forces equivalent to 50 lbs. * Ability to perform a variety of physical skills, including but not limited to: seeing, sorting, carrying, filing, holding, squatting, standing, bending, stooping, walking and writing. * Ability to operate a variety of office equipment, including but not limited to, a personal computer and associated software applications, calculator, telephone, and copier. * Ability to work evenings, weekends, and in an outdoor environment. Qualifying Education and Experience: * Bachelor’s Degree in Parks and Recreation, Recreation Administration, Physical Education, Leisure Services, Management or related field, plus 2 years directly related experience to include a minimum of 1 year supervisory experience. * Equivalent combination of education and/or experience is acceptable. * Valid Texas Driver License, Class C. * CPR certification must be obtained within 6 months of employment, and must be maintained during the incumbent’s employment duration in this position. **PRE-EMPLOYMENT SCREENING:** * Criminal Background Check * Drug & Alcohol testing * Motor Vehicle Review (MVR) * Physical & Human Performance Evaluation (HPE) City of Arlington is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
