Autocad Drafter

The Pre-Construction Associate plays a key role in supporting architects, engineers, project managers, and field teams in the early phases of project development. This role combines technical drafting, project coordination, and pre-construction documentation to ensure designs are accurate, buildable, and aligned with project requirements. ### Key Responsibilities **Drafting & Design Support** * Prepare detailed shop drawings, layouts, and multiple-view drafts using AutoCAD or similar CAD software. * Convert sketches, hand-drawn concepts, and architectural notes into precise digital drawings. * Ensure all designs comply with fabrication limitations, construction standards, and project specifications. * Maintain and continuously update the AutoCAD block library. **Pre-Construction Documentation** * Assist architects and engineers with estimating, plan takeoffs, crowdsourcing, bid preparation, and other pre-construction deliverables. * Produce comprehensive planning reports and visual materials for client presentations. * Record and track daily and weekly project progress for internal monitoring and reporting. **Project Coordination** * Collaborate with project managers, field installers, and shop personnel to confirm field conditions and clarify design requirements. * Provide ongoing support to field teams during installation and fabrication stages. * Monitor, evaluate, and recommend improvements to urban plans or project layouts as needed. **Quality & Compliance** * Review architectural drawings, shop drawings, and specifications to verify accuracy and buildability. * Ensure that all documents, drafts, and revisions meet internal quality standards and client requirements. ### Skills, Knowledge and Expertise * Bachelor’s degree in Architecture, Drafting, Engineering Technology, or related field. * Minimum **3 years of recent AutoCAD experience**; proficiency with ZWCAD, SketchUp, and Adobe Photoshop is highly beneficial. Strong ability to read and interpret construction plans, specifications, and architectural sketches. * Good mathematical and analytical skills, especially for computing dimensions and drawing contours. * Organized, detail-oriented, and capable of managing multiple tasks simultaneously. * Excellent time management and a proactive, self-starting attitude (“can do” / “will do”). * Strong written and verbal communication skills for working with cross-functional teams. ### **Preferred but Not Required** * Experience in sheet metal drafting or coordination. * Background in the food services industry or projects involving specialized fabrication. * Experience providing documentation or support during field installation phases.
