Our students, faculty and staff are driven by the idea that their work will have an impact in the world. **About the Opportunity:** The Brown in Washington Program Specialist will work to coordinate and, execute the on-site operations of the Brown in Washington program’s. In this capacity, the Specialist will facilitate community building, ongoing student support, serve as the primary local contact for crises/emergencies. The incumbent will assist the Senior Associate Dean with housing-related tasks, pre-departure activities, and will  design and facilitate community building and co-curricular learning activities. During the semester, the Program Specialist will implement co-curricular programming, assist with summer housing-related tasks and programming design, and begin preparations for the upcoming semester and summer terms. This individual will also support the Senior Associate Dean over the course of the year in program alumni engagement and assessment efforts to help shape program reports and revisions. Major Responsibilities * Under the direction of the Senior Associate Dean, designing and implementing the co-curricular and student success and wellness components of the Brown in Washington program. This will include coordination of programming such as site visits and alumni panels in Washington, DC, as well as regular communication with students, informed by knowledge of best practices in experiential learning and student support. * Supporting the residential life elements of the Brown in Washington program, including liaising with housing providers and colleagues in Brown Residential Life to support the cohort community experience and address any issues that arise. * Assessing the efficacy of co-curriculum activities, especially as they relate to both learning objectives and student satisfaction. Assisting the Senior Associate Dean with additional assessment activities, including survey development and administration, as needed. * Staffing in-person events and high-priority interactions that require more than one Brown University staff member (e.g., student orientations, excursions, and alumni panels). **This is a part-time, fixed-term seasonal/intermittent position with an end date of December 31, 2026.** **Qualifications:** **Education and Experience** * Bachelor’s degree, or equivalent combination of education and experience. * At least 1-3 years of experience working with students and/or student programming. Job Competencies * Working knowledge of best practices in program design, implementation, and assessment. * Working knowledge of best practices in student support and development. * Strong proficiency in written and verbal communication, with demonstrated ability to communicate effectively across multiple audiences. * Skillful judgment and discretion in handling FERPA-protected and confidential materials. * Ability to meet necessary deadlines and manage multiple time-sensitive processes. * Demonstrated ability to support a community of diverse perspectives and cultures in an inclusive environment, as well as demonstrated success in collaborative work with diverse faculty, students, and staff.  * Demonstrated experience advocating for and making change toward goals for diversity, inclusion, and equity while supporting students from historically underrepresented and/or minoritized backgrounds.  **Salary Grade:** 9 **Additional Information:**  Located in Washington, DC. The position requires occasional evening and weekend work for critical program events. Weekly hours may vary based on coverage needs.
