Catering Manager

Manage a small group of employees to ensure all events run smoothly. Job Description --------------- **Essential Functions**  * _Attend meetings with employees regarding their catering request_  * _Managing the catering team_  * _Organizing catering calendar and special events_  * _Answering emails from employees and catering tickets that are created through the event tool_  * _Putting together the catering order on the catering calendar_  * _Contacting employees regarding their catering request and get the proper approval/info to support the event_  * _Updated the event ticket for table/power needs (if needed) to support in house catering_  * _Supporting Sol_ _on catering request_  * _Pla__cing pas__try orders with the Pastry Team_ _by Thursday for the next week_  * _Placing orders with Canteen for sodas/water request by Thursday for the next week_  * _Placing orders with Willow’s Market for alcohol orders by Thursday for the next week_  * _Send employees their alcohol and non-alcohol receipts as soon as you receive them from vendor_  * _Make sure team returns leftover alcohol to employees by the end of the week_  * _Creating catering packets for team_  * _Schedule setup, delivery, and pick-up for catering_  * _Meet with team to go over catering packets and duties_  * _Communicating with our team about last min. add-on’s_  * _Working on catering event request for next week and updating packets with last min. add-on’s_  * _Sending friendly calendar invites to inform chef’s about high profile events happening inside of the café, when food trucks will be on hack square during service, & when there are more than 15 external g__uest that will dine at the café_  **Knowledge and Skills**  * _Excellent culinary skills_  * _Interpersonal and organizational skills_  * _Utilization of knife cuts in a safe, efficient manner_  * _Sense of urgency_  * _Excellent verbal skills_  * _Excellent_ _multi-tasking_ _skills_  * _Professional appearance_  * _Ability to move throughout the café and kitchen_   * _Knowledge of safety and sanitation in the work place_   * _High volume production & large batch cooking_  * _Ability to handle kitchen equipment and tools safely_  * _Event Management skills such as how to read a BEO, ordering, set up and break down of events_  * _Management experience_  **Education and** **Work** **Experience**  * _Culinary Degree (__preferred but not required)_   * _Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience preferred_  * _3-5 years’ experience_ _in a Catering Manager_ _role_    **Work Environment**  * _The wor__k_ _en__vironmen__t for Catering Manager_ _includes_ _the following large kitchen environment elements and exposures_  * _Fast paced kitchen_  * _High sense of urgency_  * _Moderate to high noise level_   * _Exposure to soap and cleaning solutions_  * _Slippery/uneven surfaces may be encountered_   * _Frequently moving from cold freezer to normal kitchen environment_  **Requirements**  * _Must have and maintain an active Food Handlers Card, as required by the California Health Department._   **Physical Demands**  * _Some heavy lifting (may lift 10-50_ _lbs.__) and possible moving of equipment required_  * _Specific vision abilities required by this position include close vision_ _for safe navigation of work area and use of equipment_  * _Heavy and repetitive hand and arm motion involved in production and clean up_   * _Standing, walking, bending/twisting, and balance are all required to perform job task_  * _Reaching across surfaces while moving containers, reaching above shoulders for containers for removal and storage_  * _Standing a minimum of 8 hours a day_  * _Carrying containers of different_ _sizes_ _and different types of product of all shapes and sizes_  * _Removing hot items from oven_   The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.   While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb stairs; balance; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl; talk or hear; taste or smell. Physical requirements include stooping, standing, climbing and frequent lifting of a minimum of 50 lbs. of equipment. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.   **Other Duties** Please note this job description is not designed to cover or contain a comprehensive listing of activities, duties, or responsibilities that are required of the employee for this job.
