**Position Title:** ------------------- Clinical Support Assistant - Medicine Specialty Step-down - Nights **Department:** --------------- Med Specialty Step Down **Job Description:** -------------------- _**This position may be filled as an Clinical Support Assistant or Care Team Associate Level I, II, or III depending on individual qualifications, experience, and business need.**_ Under general supervision of a registered nurse, performs routine tasks in patient care.  **Essential Responsibilities**  _Responsibilities listed in this section are core to the position. Inability to perform these responsibilities with or without an accommodation may result in disqualification from the position._  * Under general supervision of the RN and in collaboration with the patient and family, systematically and continually monitors the patient’s health status and implements the plan of care.  * Carries out physician and nursing orders as directed by the RN that is within scope.    * Takes/records blood pressures, temperatures, pulse and weighs patients.  * Performs blood glucose monitoring.   * Sets up and discontinues telemetry monitor.   * Collects specimens as directed.  * Applies sterile dressings, removal of sutures, staples and/or drains. Performs all sterile procedures as assigned.  * Performs stomal irrigation and applies colostomy pouches.  * Performs oral suctioning.   * Takes emergency action as needed and within scope.  * Performs all treatments and procedures as defined on initial skills checklist.  * Reports symptoms and significant changes in patient’s condition or behavior to RN.   * Assists with admission, discharge and transfer process.  * Transports patients to and from various treatment centers when necessary; assists transporters in moving patients in and out of stretchers and wheelchairs.  * Keeps the patient’s room in clean and orderly condition; makes beds, replaces soiled linen.  * Assists in restocking rooms with supplies and equipment as directed.   * When assigned to one patient as a safety attendant, provides care, observes the patient and does not leave the patient alone.  **General Responsibilities**  * Performs other duties as assigned.  \*Clinical Support Associate Requirements: **Education Requirements**  * HS Diploma or GED required.  **Experience Requirements**  * No experience required.   **License/Certification/Registration Requirements**  * Current Basic Life Support issued by the American Heart Association required upon hire.  \*Care Team Associate I Requirements: **Education Requirements**  * HS Diploma or GED required.   **Experience Requirements**  * No experience required.  **License/Certification/Registration Requirements**  * Current Basic Life Support issued by the American Heart Association required.  * Certified Patient Care Technician (CPCT) OR Patient Care Technician (PCTC) OR Advanced Unlicensed Assistant (AUA) required.  \*Care Team Associate II Requirements: **Education Requirements**  * HS Diploma or GED required.   **Experience Requirements**  * At least 3 years of experience required.  **License/Certification/Registration Requirements**  * Current Basic Life Support issued by the American Heart Association required.  * Certified Patient Care Technician (CPCT) OR Patient Care Technician (PCTC) OR Advanced Unlicensed Assistant (AUA) required.  \*Care Team Associate III Requirements: **Education Requirements**  * Associate's Degree required.  **Experience Requirements**  * At least 5 years of experience required.  **License/Certification/Registration Requirements**  * Current Basic Life Support issued by the American Heart Association required.  * Advanced Unlicensed Assistant (AUA) required.  **License/Certification/Registration Requirements**  * Current Basic Life Support issued by the American Heart Association required.  * Certified Patient Care Technician (CPCT) OR Patient Care Technician (PCTC) OR Advanced Unlicensed Assistant (AUA) required. **Knowledge/Skills/Abilities**  * Knowledge of basic nursing techniques and procedures.   * Ability to communicate effectively.   * Ability to follow written and oral instructions.   * Ability to maintain effective working relations with others.   **Current OU Health Employees - Please click** [HERE](https://wd5.myworkday.com/oumedicine/login.htmld) **to login.** --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- **OU Health is an equal opportunity employer.
