Job Description

Munters Corporation Ireland designs and manufactures specialised cooling equipment for data centre applications. Our advanced cooling technologies help customers achieve reliable, energy-efficient temperature control in some of the world’s most demanding operating environments. We are seeking a **Control Systems Engineer** with strong software development experience to join our Research and Development team. You will help design, develop and test the control systems used in our next-generation heat-rejection products, including passive and hybrid thermosyphon-based cooling solutions. This is a hands-on role that bridges the gap between control theory, software development and real-world equipment performance. You will work closely with mechanical, electrical and software engineering colleagues to develop reliable control solutions for highly efficient, low-energy cooling systems. **Key Responsibilities** * Design and develop control strategies using Function Block Diagram programming and other structured programming methods. * Develop, configure and maintain control software for specialist data centre cooling equipment. * Integrate and test control software on prototype systems within the R&D laboratory. * Work closely with mechanical and electrical engineers to define equipment sequences, operating modes and system behaviour. * Develop, tune and optimise control loops, including PID and cascaded control strategies. * Configure and integrate sensors, actuators, variable-speed drives and other industrial control hardware. * Support test planning, data acquisition and analysis to validate control-system performance. * Troubleshoot software, electrical and system-level control issues during prototype development and testing. * Maintain clear software documentation, revision history and version control. * Support the transfer of approved control solutions from R&D into production. * Provide technical input during product testing, commissioning and continuous improvement activities. **Experience and Qualifications** The successful candidate should have: * A degree in Control Systems Engineering, Mechatronics, Software Engineering, Automation Engineering or a related discipline. * At least three years’ experience developing software for industrial control systems. * Experience in HVAC, refrigeration, cooling systems, process control or a related industrial environment. * Proficiency in Function Block Diagram programming. * A strong understanding of control-system fundamentals and real-world system dynamics. * Experience working with industrial sensors, programmable controllers and automation hardware. * Knowledge of PID control, control-loop tuning and equipment sequencing. * Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills. * The ability to work effectively in a practical, hands-on R&D environment. * Good communication skills and the ability to collaborate across multiple engineering disciplines. **Desirable Experience** Experience in any of the following areas would be an advantage: * Carel control platforms. * Automated Logic Controls, or ALC, systems. * Siemens controllers and automation platforms. * Industrial communication protocols such as BACnet and Modbus. * Data centre cooling applications. * Refrigeration, thermal-management or heat-rejection systems. * Prototype development and product-validation environments. * Software version-control and structured release processes. **The Opportunity** This position offers an opportunity to contribute directly to the development of innovative cooling technologies for the rapidly growing data centre industry. You will work on products where control-system performance has a direct impact on energy efficiency, reliability and overall equipment performance. You will join a collaborative, cross-functional engineering team and gain exposure to the complete product-development process—from initial control concepts and prototype testing through to production handover.
