Job Description

Spend a winter in the mountains while being part of a small team that takes pride in creating memorable experiences for guests from around the world. At The Residence Myoko, you’ll have the opportunity to live and work in Myoko Kogen, one of Japan’s premier ski destinations, where exceptional hospitality, great food and genuine care are at the heart of everything we do. Our boutique ski-in ski-out lodge welcomes just twenty guests, allowing us to focus on quality rather than quantity. Working alongside our chef, you’ll help prepare thoughtfully crafted breakfasts and hosted evening dinners using fresh local ingredients while contributing to a dining experience that guests remember long after their stay. Our dining philosophy is centred on generous, thoughtfully prepared food that reflects the warmth, care and hospitality guests have come to expect from The Residence. You’ll be joining a small, passionate team that genuinely enjoys working together and making every guest feel welcome. We believe that the smallest details often leave the biggest impression, and every member of our team plays an important role in creating the welcoming atmosphere that defines The Residence. Outside of work, you’ll experience everything that makes Myoko an unforgettable place to spend a winter season. From world-renowned powder snow and natural hot springs to an international community and the mountains quite literally on your doorstep, this is an opportunity to combine your passion for cooking with an exceptional alpine lifestyle. If you enjoy preparing high-quality food, thrive in a collaborative environment and are looking for a rewarding winter season in one of Japan’s leading ski destinations, we’d love to hear from you. **EXPECTATIONS & RESPONSIBILITIES** As a Cook at The Residence Myoko, you’ll work alongside our Chef to support the day-to-day operation of the kitchen, helping to create memorable dining experiences that reflect the warmth and hospitality our guests have come to expect. This is an ideal opportunity for someone who enjoys working as part of a collaborative kitchen team and wants to further develop their skills in a premium boutique hospitality environment. Your responsibilities will include: * Assisting with the preparation and cooking of all meals served at the lodge, including made-to-order breakfasts, daily après-ski refreshments, staff meals and hosted evening dinners. * Preparing and presenting beautifully plated breakfasts each morning, ensuring dietary requirements are met and every guest begins their day with an exceptional dining experience. * Supporting the Chef in the preparation, plating and service of five-course hosted dinners three evenings each week. * Preparing ingredients and completing food preparation to ensure kitchen service runs smoothly and efficiently. * Helping to maintain consistently high standards of food quality, presentation and portion control across every service. * Assisting with stock control, ingredient preparation and kitchen organisation to support efficient daily operations. * Maintaining the highest standards of food safety, hygiene and cleanliness. * Taking pride in maintaining a clean, organised and efficient kitchen environment. * Working closely with the Chef to ensure every meal reflects the quality, warmth and hospitality that define The Residence experience. * Representing The Residence professionally at all times, as this is a guest-facing role where you’ll regularly interact with guests throughout their stay. **WHO WE’RE LOOKING FOR** We’re looking for someone who is passionate about cooking, takes pride in their work and enjoys creating memorable experiences through food. You’ll be organised, reliable and comfortable working both independently and as part of a small, collaborative team. A positive attitude, strong attention to detail and a genuine commitment to hospitality are just as important to us as technical ability. **WORKING HOURS & EMPLOYMENT PERIOD** This is a full-time seasonal position averaging approximately 40 hours per week, depending on lodge occupancy and operational requirements. Team members receive two days off each week. A typical working day includes: * Breakfast service: **7:00am – 9:00am** (preparation begins at **6:00am**) * Après-ski service: From **4:00pm** (preparation begins at **3:00pm**) * Hosted dinner service: From **6:30pm** (three evenings each week with prep beginning earlier in the day) Employment is available from **December 2026 through March 2027 as a minimum**. Applicants should be available to commence at any time during December and remain for the full winter season through to the end of March. **WHAT WE OFFER** * Competitive seasonal salary based on experience and qualifications. * Staff accommodation provided at our ski-in ski-out lodge. * Daily staff meals. * 50% contribution towards a seasonal lift pass. * Opportunity to work in one of Japan’s premier ski destinations alongside a passionate, close-knit hospitality team. * Potential for ongoing employment and future winter seasons for the right candidate.
