All while understanding that **together** we are even better. **Schedule:** PRN **Shift:** Day (United States of America) **Address:** 9100 W 74TH ST **City:** SHAWNEE MISSION **State:** Kansas **Postal Code:** 66204 **Job Description:** As a **CT Tech II - Relief/PRN**, you will perform CT imaging procedures to assist in the diagnosis and treatment of patients. This role positions, moves, and assists patients to ensure accurate imaging results, while also providing basic patient care and clerical support within the scope of practice and departmental standards. This position may also perform dual CT and X-ray functions routinely, assist with interventional radiology procedures, or take on additional responsibilities at the department’s discretion. **Work Hours / Shift** Relief This position performs CT, with routine dual CT and X-ray function, and may include IR procedures or additional responsibilities as assigned. **Key Responsibilities** * Perform high-quality CT examinations in accordance with provider orders and departmental protocols to support accurate diagnosis. * Review patient history and clinical information to confirm exam appropriateness and identify potential contraindications. * Prepare and administer IV contrast material following safety guidelines and monitor patients for adverse reactions. * Position patients accurately and comfortably, using immobilization devices when needed, while maintaining radiation safety and ALARA principles. * Collaborate with radiologists and other healthcare professionals to support continuity of care and appropriate imaging. * Maintain accurate and timely documentation within the electronic medical record and PACS systems. * Educate patients about the exam and complete examinations in a timely manner while supporting workflow and minimizing empty table time. * Operate imaging equipment safely and properly, including scanners, injectors, and monitors, while adapting protocols for patients of all ages. * Practice infection control standards and use approved PPE and disinfectant agents. * Follow department protocols for patient identification, informed consent, and time-out procedures before starting exams. * Perform other duties as assigned. **Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities** * Ability to communicate effectively and work with people from diverse backgrounds. * Knowledge of CT procedures and CT scanners. * Ability to learn and grow with new technology. * Strong customer service skills. * Knowledge of CT safety, including radiation safety for patients, families, and coworkers. * Knowledge of workstations and commonly used healthcare concepts, practices, and procedures. * Ability to read, write, and speak conversational English. * Basic computer skills and knowledge of Microsoft Office. * Ability to analyze and assess data, techniques, methodology, equipment operation, and quality control to ensure information is obtained and presented accurately. * Ability to communicate appropriately and effectively with patients, families, hospital staff, nurses, physicians, and other healthcare professionals. * Ability to learn and use radiology software packages, scanners, workstations, and EMR. * Ability to quickly learn and follow departmental policies and procedures. * Ability to maintain required registries and licenses to perform imaging procedures. * Ability to follow basic radiation safety concepts of time, shielding, and distance to keep exposure levels as low as reasonably achievable for patients and staff. * Ability to complete exams within expected time frames to support ED and Observation TAT goals. * Ability to assess, start, and confirm appropriate placement of IVs for use in contrast studies. * Ability to assess, explain, and perform imaging studies on patients of all ages. * Ability to learn and complete reconstructions and post-processing. * General computer skills and PACS knowledge preferred. * Basic IV competency preferred. * General physics and anatomy preferred. * Past reconstruction and post-processing experience preferred. * Ability to learn and complete cardiac CT preferred. **EDUCATION:** * High school diploma or equivalent required. * Associate degree preferred. * Bachelor’s degree preferred. **Work Experience:** * One year of related work experience required. **Licenses and Certifications:** * **Registered Technologist - Radiography (R.T.(R)(ARRT)) require**d. * Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required. * American Registry of Radiologic Technologists - Computed Tomography (ARRT-CT) preferred. * Additional licensure or certification requirements may apply depending on the specific unit or state in which this position is located.
