Job Description

Eversource will not offer immigration-related sponsorship for this position (e.g., H-1B, O-1, J-1, TN, E-3, etc.).  Applicants requiring visa sponsorship to start employment with Eversource will not be considered. **_As Distribution System Operator, you will plan, coordinate, and supervise switching and tagging operations, issue clearances, monitor system loads, and support emergency restoration efforts for the electric distribution system. You will coordinate activities with CONVEX and other regions when system conditions cross jurisdictional lines and may serve as a Switching Director as assigned._** **_Training Program_** **_Candidates are hired as apprentices and undergo a 12–18-month training program, including written exams and board evaluations. Successful completion is required to remain in the position._** **_Essential Functions:_** * **_Operate and maintain the Network Management System (NMS) and SCADA equipment._** * **_Write, check, approve, and issue switching, grounding, and tagging instructions._** * **_Analyze trouble calls and initiate corrective actions, including personnel callouts._** * **_Monitor circuit and substation loads and voltages to ensure safe operation._** * **_Support emergency restoration efforts, including Division EOCs and RMTs._** * **_Maintain accurate system diagrams and databases reflecting current status._** * **_Coordinate switching with CONVEX and other internal/external stakeholders._** * **_Prepare and maintain operational records and reports._** * **_Assist in training new operators and support NMS instruction._** * **_Develop and maintain operating instructions in collaboration with Grid Management._** * **_Operate PC-based and mainframe applications._** * **_Coordinate dispatching with internal teams and external agencies (e.g., police, fire, DEP)._** * **_Subject to on-call duty._** **_Accountability/Authority_** * **_Ensure/Approve accurate and safe switching/tagging instructions and issue clearances._** * **_Efficiently direct restoration activities, following company policies and procedures._** * **_Provide timely and accurate reporting._** * **_Maintain effective coordination with internal and external stakeholders._** * **_Operate SCADA and related technologies proficiently._** **_Qualifications_** **_Education:_** * **_High school diploma or the equivalent is required; associate’s degree in electrical discipline preferred._** **_Experience:_** * **_Three (3) years of related experience is required; electrical utility experience is preferred._** **_Skills & Knowledge:_** * **_Thorough knowledge of switching/tagging procedures and understanding of distribution system operations._** * **_Thorough knowledge of applicable PC-based and other technologies, with the ability to learn future technologies._** * **_Ability to analyze electric distribution system problems and act accordingly._** * **_Ability to act as customer advocate by assuring accurate and timely information is communicated on ETRs (Estimated Time of Restoration) and restoration remarks._** **_Testing Requirement:_** * **_Successful candidates will be required to pass pre-employment System Operator/Power Dispatcher (SO/PD) Test._** **_Working Conditions:_** * **_Ability to perform under emergency stress conditions._** * **_Must be available to work emergency restoration assignment as required._** * **_Must be available to travel between MA/CT/NH as necessary._** **_Compensation_** * **_Starting salary: $53.17/hour, with progression per union contract._** * **_Visit our careers site for benefits overview._** **Please attach a resume when completing your online application.** **#elecadj** **Competencies:** Build trusting relationships Manage and develop people Foster teamwork and cross-functional collaboration Lead change Communicate strategic vision Create an engaged workforce Focus on the customer Take ownership & accountability Build trusting relationships **Worker Type:** Regular **Number of Openings:** 1 **Emergency Response:** Responding to emergency situations to meet customers’ needs is part of every employee’s role.
