This role is a key connector between internal care teams, patients, and suppliers—often navigating complex, time-sensitive situations where success depends on the ability to solve problems in real time, anticipate barriers, and drive positive outcomes with limited direction. The DME Coordinator plays a direct role in ensuring patients leave Shepherd Center with the equipment and support they need to continue their recovery safely. **JOB RESPONSIBILITIES** * Coordinate with suppliers, payers, and internal stakeholders to facilitate authorizations and resolve coverage barriers that may delay equipment delivery * Communicate patient needs to suppliers and external case managers * Provide clear, practical guidance on interactions/coordination between suppliers and patients/families * Ensure all documentation meets payer, compliance, and regulatory standards * Advocate for patient choice and serve as a central liaison between patients, families, suppliers, payers, case managers, and clinical teams to facilitate timely access to prescribed equipment * Provide timely updates regarding equipment status, barriers, and anticipated delivery timelines to clinical and case management teams * Participate in team meetings and ongoing education * Identify gaps and inefficiencies and propose practical solutions * Ensure compliance with HIPAA and organizational standards * Other duties as assigned **REQUIRED MINIMUM EDUCATION** * Associate’s degree **REQUIRED MINIMUM CERTIFICATION** * N/A **REQUIRED LICENSURE** * N/A **REQUIRED MINIMUM EXPERIENCE** * Experience working in a hospital setting with knowledge of DME/Respiratory and insurance information desired. **REQUIRED MINIMUM SKILLS** * Strong computer skills (Excel, Word, and general systems navigation) * Excellent communication and customer service skills * Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and resolve conflicts * Strong organizational skills and self-directed work ethic * Critical Thinking & Decision-Making * Adaptability & Improvisation * Conflict Resolution & Diplomacy * Cross Departmental Collaboration * Process Awareness & Improvement **PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS** * Bachelor's degree (Allied Health, Nursing or Social Work) preferred. **PHYSICAL DEMANDS** * Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time but may involve walking or standing for brief periods of time or exerting up to 15 pounds of force occasionally or a negligible amount of force frequently to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects, including the human body. **WORKING CONDITIONS** * Some potential for exposure to blood and body fluids.
