Electrical Design Engineer – Offshore Energy | Newcastle

We are looking for a proactive and motivated **Electrical Design Engineer** to join our Electrical Design Team in Newcastle city centre. In this role, you will work on a variety of complex, bespoke engineering projects within our Offshore Energy product group.
This is a hands-on, technical role where you will contribute directly to the design, delivery and optimisation of high-quality engineering solutions.
Your role
---------
As part of the Electrical Design team, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality electrical designs and supporting projects throughout their lifecycle.
Your responsibilities include:
* Designing electrical systems and solutions for bespoke engineering projects
* Writing technical specifications and selecting appropriate components
* Supporting project costing and budgeting activities
* Providing technical support to customers and internal stakeholders
* Preparing inspection, test and FAT documentation
* Contributing to standardisation and efficiency improvements within the Electrical Department
* Delivering engineering work packages and projects with minimal supervision
* Ensuring projects are delivered on time and within budget
* Supporting commissioning and installation activities
* Collaborating closely with multidisciplinary teams across the business
What you bring
--------------
* Degree or diploma in Electrical Engineering (or similar)
* Experience in a similar role within a project-driven, engineering environment
* Strong experience in electrical design, including:
* Power distribution systems (230V & 440VAC)
* Machine control and instrumentation systems
* Control panel design
* Motor starter and VSD design
* Experience with Electrical CAD tools (EPLAN Electric P8 preferred)
* Familiarity with ISO9001 or similar quality standards
* Knowledge of marine and offshore environments (preferred)
* Understanding of DNV GL and Lloyd’s standards
* Experience with subsea systems and/or high voltage systems is an advantage
* Knowledge of functional safety standards (e.g. IEC61508, IEC61511, IEC13849) is a plus
* Commissioning and testing experience is beneficial
