**Drive visibility. Improve resilience. Support patient care.**
---------------------------------------------------------------
St Vincent’s Health Australia is seeking an experienced **Enterprise Observability & Monitoring Lead** to uplift and lead monitoring capability across a complex national healthcare environment.
This is a unique opportunity to build a **true enterprise observability capability** — improving how we detect, respond to, and understand service impacts across technology that directly supports **patient and resident care**.
You will play a key role in ensuring our digital environment is **stable, visible, and responsive**, enabling teams to act faster during incidents and clearly understand which services are impacted when disruptions occur.
**The opportunity**
-------------------
This role sits within our Service Management Platform function, working closely with Major Incident Management and technical teams to improve how monitoring supports real operational outcomes.
You will:
* Build and uplift enterprise monitoring capability across infrastructure, networks, cloud, and applications
* Improve incident response, enabling faster detection and resolution of issues
* Provide clear visibility of service impacts, system health, and outages
* Lead the shift from basic monitoring to service-level and application observability
* Deliver insights that help teams make better decisions during incidents
**What you’ll be doing**
------------------------
* Define and deliver the enterprise observability and monitoring roadmap
* Own and optimise monitoring platforms (including PRTG and associated toolsets)
* Ensure monitoring signals feed into ITSM for incident management and response
* Improve alert quality, signal-to-noise ratio, and operational usefulness
* Develop dashboards and reporting that provide meaningful service insights
* Enable teams to better understand and respond to system degradation and outages
* Establish consistent monitoring standards across technology domains
* Provide training and uplift capability across engineering and operational teams
**About you**
-------------
You are an experienced technical leader who understands that monitoring is not just tooling — it’s about **operational visibility, service reliability, and outcomes**.
You bring:
* Experience in monitoring, observability, infrastructure operations, or service reliability
* Experience working across enterprise-scale environments and multiple monitoring platforms
* Hands-on experience with tools such as PRTG, Azure Monitor, ThousandEyes, or similar
* Strong understanding of incident management and ITSM practices
* Experience designing alerts, dashboards, and monitoring frameworks
* Strong problem-solving and root cause analysis capability
* Ability to work across teams and drive capability uplift and adoption
Nice to have:
* Exposure to application monitoring, synthetic monitoring, or observability concepts (metrics, logs, traces)
* Experience in healthcare or other highly regulated environments
**Why join us**
---------------
* Make a direct impact on patient and resident care outcomes
* Build and shape a new enterprise-wide capability
* Work in a collaborative, purpose-driven Digital & Technology team
* Flexible hybrid working model (minimum 3 days on-site)
* Opportunity to influence how monitoring and service visibility evolves across a national organisation
**Ready to apply?**

If you’re passionate about improving service visibility, reducing incident impact, and building enterprise observability capability in a complex environment, we’d love to hear from you.
