Together, we will advance our way of life and protect the integrity of our environment every step of the way. **A Day in the Life**  As an **Environmental Lab Technician II** in our Durham, NC lab, you’ll be responsible for assisting multiple projects where you will have increasing interaction with our multi-disciplinary staff, regulatory agencies and clients. You will be part of a strong team of committed professionals.    The compensation range for this role is **$20.00 to $23.00,** commensurate with experience, skills, and geographic location.    **Monday - Friday Schedule with occasional overtime/weekend work.** To thrive in this role, you’ll be comfortable taking ownership of the following responsibilities:   * _Preparation of sample for metals analysis using acid digestion techniques._ * _Help with keeping a clean and orderly laboratory._ * _Performing refractive index analysis using a microscope._ * _Keeping track of consumable inventory._ * _Help with the archiving of analyzed samples._ * _Preparation and analysis of mercury samples (cold vapor atomic absorption experience a plus)_ * _Preparation of filters and reagents for in-house lab use and/or shipment._ * _Comply with Onterris Quality Assurance Program, Health & Safety Program and other policies_ * _Other duties as assigned by the Group Leader or Lab Director_  **Your Expertise and Skills**  * These requirements reflect the knowledge, skills and abilities that help you do your best work here.   * _Bachelor’s degree or higher in Chemistry, Biology, Environmental Science, or related field preferred_ * _1+ years laboratory experience preferred but not required._ * _Basic understanding of laboratory equipment such as balances, mechanical pipettes, and microscopes._ * _Knowledge of Microsoft suite of software._ * _The desire to learn new techniques and not afraid to ask questions._ * _An effective communicator._ * _Effective documentation, timeliness, and throughput must meet the standard of the laboratory._ **Work Environment and Physical Requirements** The physical and environmental requirements below reflect what’s typically needed to perform the essential functions of this role safely and effectively.
