**Position Details** **Job Number:**  JR00541 **Department:** Patient Food Services Charlton **This position may be scheduled at any of the following sites:** Charlton Campus (Hamilton Downtown), West 5th Campus (Hamilton Mountain) **Job Type:** Temporary (Fixed Term), Part time **Contract Duration: (If applicable)** 0 months **Number of Positions:** 5 **Union:** CUPE Local 786 **Hourly Rate (Min / Max):** $27.22 - $29.56 **Schedule** **Work Days:** Holidays, Monday to Sunday, Weekends **Time of Day:** Afternoons, Days **Shift:** Hours - 4, Hours - 6, Hours - 7.5, Various Rotating **Shift Start: (If applicable)** AM 07:00, AM 07:30, AM 11:30, PM 13:30, PM 16:00 **Reason for Posting:** **Application Dates** **Opening Date:** 2026-06-16 **Closing Date:** 2026-06-23 **Job Description** **Qualifications** * Grade 12 education or equivalent * Experience in institutional food service operation will be an asset * Food Handler Certificate preferred * Applicants must be able to speak, read and write English and be capable of following oral and written instructions thoroughly * Ability to perform the following physical demands: extended periods of time standing and walking; requirements for bending, forward reaching predominantly between waist and shoulder, lifting, pushing/pulling carts throughout the department and hospital * Ability to work independently and as part of a team * Ability to maintain a friendly disposition with patients * Neat appearance, good attendance and work record are essential * Ability to work in very cold (walk in freezer), cold (walk in refrigerator) and warm environment. * Must wear safety shoes **Responsibilities** * Delivering and serving meals to patients and/or setting up the dining areas, preparing, heating and serving meals to patients * Working on a belt line * Maintaining work area/equipment and procedures to meet sanitation and safety standards * Following HACCP principles of food handling * Preparing patient meals/meal trays with dietary restrictions * Operating microwave/convection ovens * Operating and maintaining dish cleaning machines * Assisting with inventory as required * Preparing/decanting/assembling food and special dietetic items * Delivering and retrieving meal carts and supplies * Tempering and distribution of food items * Pushing food supply carts between dock and department * Handling garbage bags * Reports directly to Food Services Supervisor **Reason for Posting** This requisition is to fill an existing vacancy St. Joseph’s Healthcare Hamilton (SJHH) is an equal opportunity employer and strives for equity, inclusiveness, and diversity in all our programs, practices, facilities, and people.
