Heavy Diesel Fleet - Lube Tech

**Southern Oregon Sanitation**, in **Grants Pass, OR** has an immediate position open for a **Diesel Lube Tech** to perform preventative maintenance on our fleet of garbage trucks. . **Full-Time:** 4/10 Schedule, Wednesday – Saturday, 7:00am – 4:30pm (Occasional OT as needed) . **COMPETITIVE COMPENSATION:**    **Starting pay at $26.94/hr** * Annual Safety Bonus $$ * Generous Paid Time Off + Paid Holidays * Customizable Benefits Package: Medical, Dental, Vision, FSA, Wellness Programs, and more * 401(k) with Company Match * Company-Paid Life Insurance * Growth opportunities- We pride ourselves on promoting from within. **DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:** * Help to assist with repairs including but are not limited to, routine preventative maintenance and repairing engines, chassis, body components, hydraulic cylinders, brake systems, suspension systems, cooling systems, and wheels/tires. * Inspects equipment and/or trucks for condition, operations, parts and fluid levels, differentials, final drives, pump drives, and hubs. * Knowledge of Hydraulics repair is a plus! * Conducts safety checks on vehicles and equipment. * Reviews, completes or assigns repairs identified on Driver Vehicle Inspection Reports. * Maintains a clean, safe work area in compliance with corporate and OSHA standards. * Performs required safety protocols while working on vehicles. * Ability to effectively communicate needed repairs or tasks. . **WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL EFFORT:** * Extensive physical activity. Requires strenuous physical work; heavy lifting, pushing, or pulling required of objects over 50 pounds. * Back, leg, arm and shoulder strength required to safely climb in, on and around vehicles to inspect and repair. * Ability to work in awkward, tight, or restricted spaces for extended periods of time; Requires the ability to sit, bend, stoop, crouch, kneel, crawl, and be able to get up and down from a supine position. * Work environment involves some exposure to physical risks such as moving mechanical parts which require following basic safety precautions. * The employee is exposed to outside weather, including frequent wet and/or humid conditions, as well as exposure to fumes and vibration. Noise level is usually moderate. . **REQUIREMENTS:** * Valid **Driver’s License** with a **clean driving record (Required)** * **1+ year of DIESEL lube tech or diesel maintenance experience (or completion of diesel tech program)** * **Provide Personal Tools.** * Proficiency in vehicle and equipment diagnosis and repair. * Ability to read and comprehend service and technical information in English * Basic knowledge of truck systems and hydraulics a plus * Ability to follow directions, work safely, and learn quickly . **CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:** Candidates for employment must meet position requirements and successfully pass post offer employment examinations including: **•             Background Check** **•             MVR Check** **•             Drug screen** .
