Heavy Equipment Operator

Avenal Landfill, a Waste Connections company, is seeking a Heavy Equipment Operator to join our team in Avenal, CA! **Schedule**: Monday-Friday, 7:00 AM - 4:00 PM, with the possibility of working every other Saturday from 7:00 AM - 12:00 PM (overtime hours as needed). **Compensation**: Starting pay is **$22-$26** per hour, based on experience. The pay range for the job category is $22-27 per hour. Our commitment to running a successful, growing business creates endless opportunities for career advancement and a culture that values happy, motivated team members. **Duties and Responsibilities**: * Operate Dozer, Excavator, and Loader to manage waste and debris * Move and grade soil as needed to maintain site operations * Conduct routine inspections and maintenance of equipment * Provide assistance to customers and team members as required * Responsibly operate a company vehicle for parts running as needed, ensuring timely and safe delivery of materials. **Working Conditions**: * Work is performed outdoors in varying weather conditions, including extreme heat, cold, and occasional rain. * The position involves physical labor, including lifting, bending, and standing for extended periods. * The environment may be dusty, noisy, and require the use of personal protective equipment (PPE), such as hearing protection, gloves, and safety boots. * There will be exposure to machinery and heavy equipment, so safety protocols and precautions are strictly followed. **Minimum Job Requirements**: * 2+ years of heavy equipment operating experience * Ability to work both independently and as part of a team * Ability to lift 50 pounds unassisted * Must pass a pre-employment background check and drug screen * Valid driver's license with clean record * Ability to work effectively in various outdoor conditions, including exposure to weather elements, physical labor, and a dynamic work environment.
