Job Description

Seeking multicultural-friendly and fragrance-free disability asst to start ASAP. 130 hrs per month, work days are typically afternoon and early evening. Flexibility in scheduling is a must, as my health can change truly significantly from one day to the next. Women only for cultural and religious reasons. Must be fluent or conversant in Finnish. The most important thing to know is that I have been employing disability assistants for well over a decade, and nearly everyone who passes the test period stays with me from 1-5 years. That’s rare in this field and it’s for a reason; I truly respect and care for my employees (although payment comes from the disability office) and if my employee gives me the same, this is a great job. You are actively helping a person who suffers daily survive impossible odds and you are doing important and life-changing work, if you actually care about it. I’m an empathetic, which means I am incredibly sensitive to people’s pain and suffering. That also means that many people, sadly including my last short-term employee, try to take advantage of my kindness and generosity and break the law in the process. The law Im speaking of is complete confidentiality: vaitiolovelvollisuus. This isn’t an option. It’s a MUST and it is law. You don’t tell your parents about who I am or what I suffer from and you don’t tell your husband. Period. Breaking that law can result in criminal charges. If you don’t understand that, you are in the wrong profession. I go out of my way to give people the time they need off, breaks when they need them, prayer times if they want them, and anything else I can do to help. When I go shopping, you help me but you can also have fun. Coffee breaks, funny jokes snd lightness are a gift in an otherwise hard life. I am a political refugee and will explain more when if you come to interview. This is very much an immersive two way relationship and I am not your typical Finnish employer in any way. I care. I worry about my employees welfare and look out for your rights. If however you’re used to manipulating people and lie easily, I warn you this is not the place to come. I’ve had enough of it for a lifetime and it doesn’t go well. I expect to employ an adult, not a teenager pretending to be an adult. If you need your parents to drive you and still live at home where everything is provided for you, haven’t ever taken care of a chronically ill person and have never paid a bill, please do not apply. This doesn’t mean that younger people can’t do the job. I had one 19 year old who did very well because she had taken care of a family of many siblings and mother for most of her life. There are always exceptional people in all age groups. This ad is posted in English, which is indeed my stronger language, but I am fully conversant in Finnish as well. I need to know that you can handle web orders, shopping, Kela, etc, using Finnish. If you applied before and are still interested please resubmit your application. Otherwise, I look forward to hearing from you! Please tell me how you are uniquely suited to take care of an exceptional person who, like you it, has a purpose in this world for whatever amount of time I have left. There is a chance the hours may increase to 140 per month. This includes at least 2 Sundays per month and some holidays so you can be paid extra.
