Students will look at the cells, organs, and molecules that defend the body from bacteria, viruses, fungi, and parasites. This course also addresses how vaccines function, what triggers allergies, and the way autoimmune diseases develop.                        **Additional Information:** This biology elective is designed for students interested in strengthening their science literacy skills and exploring STEM careers. **Summary of Responsibilities** * Prepare and teach curriculum for 20-22 students * Evaluate student and group performance often * Provide staff with measurable results in student learning through assessments * Monitor and maintain accurate student attendance records  * Reassess curriculum based on students' needs, interests, and understanding of materials * Other duties as assigned **Qualifications**    Required: * Availability for each program day from 10:30am-12pm * Strong background in the subject area * Experience in a teaching capacity within subject area * Experience with designing/implementing a course curriculum * Have a strong classroom management style       Preferred: * Degree in biology or related subject * Prior teaching experience with high school or undergraduate students * Ability to engage students with creative lessons and innovative teaching style * Possess good interpersonal skills with adolescents and a strong understanding of their maturity levels * Enthusiasm for the subject with flexibility in adjusting curriculum to reflect students' abilities Pay Range: $45 hourly **RFCUNY Benefits** [RFCUNY Employee Benefits and Accruals](https://www.rfcuny.org/rfwebsite/media/zhvdz2q5/rfcuny-project-employee-benefits-guide-2025.pdf) **Equal Employment Opportunity Statement** The Research Foundation of the City University of New York is an Equal Opportunity/Affirmative Action/Americans with Disabilities Act/E-Verify Employer.
