Waste Connections is seeking a **high-energy Accounting Intern** to join our team this summer! ​**Key Responsibilities:** * Assist with monthly financial close processes and prepare financial statements for assigned operating locations. * Reconcile general ledger accounts and ensure accuracy. * Analyze and report significant financial variances against budget and forecast. * Conduct rate analysis and provide strategic financial insights. * Communicate financial information effectively with operational teams. * Manage accounting data flow between remote facilities and corporate systems. * Support quarterly Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) compliance and internal reviews. * Participate in annual budgeting and financial planning processes. * Train non-financial staff on internal controls, accounting procedures, and financial statement interpretation. * Other duties as assigned. **What We’re Looking For:** * Currently enrolled in a bachelor’s degree program in Accounting or Finance. * Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting systems. * Strong analytical, communication, and organizational skills. 🚛 **We Keep Our Promises!** At Waste Connections, we believe in **empowering our employees**.
