**General Description:**
The Interventional Technologist I assists Physicians with minimally invasive, image-guided procedures to diagnose, monitor and treat simple to complex conditions, defects and/or diseases without surgery. This position is intended for those who are gaining experience in Interventional Radiology or Invasive Cardiology or are experienced Imaging professionals who wish to begin a career in the discipline.
**Essential Responsibilities:**

* Assists Providers in performing minimally invasive, image-guided procedures including but not limited to cardiac catheterization, electrophysiology, angiography, device implantation, biopsies, thrombectomy, embolization and pain management.
* Utilizes a variety of highly specialized radiologic equipment and techniques to perform a diverse range of diagnostic, interventional and/or invasive procedures in accordance with established scope of practice guidelines.
* Ensures procedures are performed safely and with the highest quality standards, maintaining a consistent focus on patient‑centric care.
* Assists in preparing patients for procedures and providing comfort.
* Acts as a scrub tech while assisting Providers during procedures
* Maintains a strict sterile field adhering to safety protocols.
* Responds to inquiries from patients and family members, provides clear information regarding diagnostic testing and expected result timelines.
* Collaborates with team members across OU Health including Providers to provide exceptional patient care.
* Conducts post-testing quality reviews to confirm that all required elements are completed, documented and align with departmental and accreditation standards.
* Transfers images and data to the appropriate electronic health system, enters technical data/findings and prepares study for reporting by physician.
* Performs quality control checks, cleaning, disinfecting and other equipment maintenance tasks per manufacturer instructions for use and other regulatory guidelines.
* Assists with quality assurance, audits and performance improvement tasks as requested.
* Provides on-call clinical coverage outside regularly scheduled duty hours on weekdays, weekends and holidays as assigned.
* May support OU Health's academic partnerships by actively engaging in teaching of students in the radiologic program.
* May serve as a departmental preceptor to provide instruction and mentorship to new or less experienced team members. Assists with onboarding of new team members.
**General Responsibilities:**
* Performs other duties as assigned.
**Minimum Qualifications:**
**Education:** A graduate of post-secondary educational program in a health science (includes, but not limited to, cardiovascular technology, ultrasound, radiologic technology, or paramedic/EMT) as defined by ARRT or CCI.
Completion of JRCERT accredited Military Educational Program is accepted in lieu of other educational requirements.
**Experience:** No experience required.
**License(s)/Certification(s)/Registration(s) Required:** Current Basic Life Support issued by the American Heart Association required upon hire.
ARRT(RT), RCES or RCIS certification required within 18 months of hire.

* Demonstrates knowledge and skill in applying principles of medical imaging, positioning of patients and medical ethics.
* Applies core knowledge and understanding of anatomy and physiology associated with specialty imaging procedures
* Demonstrates ability and skill to apply theory, practices and techniques to perform, post-process, analyze and annotate study data or procedure documentation.
* Applies knowledge of sterile fields consistently ensuring a safe environment for the patient
* Strong verbal and written communication skills
* Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age and patient populations served
* Demonstrates knowledge of and ability to apply HIPAA guidelines and standards.
* Ability to prioritize and complete clinical or non-clinical work assignments
* Ability to multi-task and remain calm in stressful situations
* Ability to work as part of a diverse team and communicate effectively with others.
* Displays consistency and dependability by reporting to work as scheduled.
* Ability to be sensitive to patients’ physical and psychological needs.
* Ability to maintain accurate records and work accurately with names, numbers, and codes.
