IT Support Technician

Job Description Amentum is seeking a hands-on Network & **IT Support Technician on Andros Island** to manage our physical network infrastructure and provide essential connectivity support to our users. You will be responsible for the "boots-on-the-ground" technical work, including installing network hardware, maintaining cabling, and ensuring all IT assets are accurately tracked. **This position is reserved for Bahamian citizens only. Must be a citizen of the Bahamas.** **Essential Responsibilities:** **Network Installation & Connectivity** * Deploy and configure Wi-Fi Access Points (WAPs) to ensure optimal signal coverage throughout the facility. * Install and mount network equipment, including routers, switches, and patch panels in server racks. o Connect workstations, printers, and other peripherals to the local network (LAN). * Physical Infrastructure & Cabling o Run, pull, and terminate copper (Cat5e/Cat6) and low-voltage cabling. * Troubleshoot physical layer issues, such as damaged jacks, faulty patches, or cable interference. o Organize and label cabling within server closets to meet industry standards. * Testing & Troubleshooting o Perform basic network testing using diagnostic tools (e.g., cable testers, ping, tracert) to verify connectivity. * Identify and resolve roadblocks in LAN infrastructure that prevent users from accessing network resources. **Inventory & Documentation** * Maintain a detailed physical inventory of all IT assets, including serial numbers, locations, and status. * Document network layouts and cable paths to assist with future upgrades or repairs. Required Skills & Qualifications * Technical Proficiency: Hands-on experience with hand tools and power drills for mounting equipment and running conduit. * Networking Knowledge: Familiarity with TCP/IP, Wi-Fi standards, and basic router/switch configuration. * Physical Stamina: Ability to climb ladders, work in confined spaces (crawl spaces/ceilings), and lift equipment weighing up to 50 lbs. * Attention to Detail: Precision in cable termination (color-coding) and accuracy in maintaining inventory records. **Minimum Requirements:** * Associates Degree in IT or related domain * 2 years IT experience as a Technician **Preferred Qualifications:** CompTIA A+ or Network+ Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) BICSI (Building Industry Consulting Service International) for cabling standards.
