Job Description

Provides direct supervision over functional area including: assigning tasks daily, assisting as needed to ensure satisfactory completion of tasks; overseeing and checking completed food tallies, maintaining proper levels of prepared foods; providing input into hiring, training, evaluating and disciplining trayline staff.
**Job Description:**
**Essential Duties & Responsibilities including but not limited to:**
_Under management of Director Level or Manager Level:_
* Interviews and makes effective recommendation for selection of applicants for employment.
* Provides input to and recommends decisions about job performance ratings.
* Provides input to and makes recommendations about colleagues for transfer, promotion, and special training to ensure most effective utilization of individual skills and staff development.
* Provides input for and makes recommendations for pay increases, promotions, transfers and other human resource actions.
* Takes part in the training of new staff in department policies and procedures.
* Takes part in the orientation of colleagues that are new to area or new to the performance of specific tasks.
* Provides input to the establishment of work schedules and the assignment of staff to specified areas of the department.
* Counsels, and provides input to and effectively recommends disciplines and recommends discharge as necessary.
* Provides input to the decision to retrain colleagues as necessary.
_Independently:_
* Supervises work performance of the staff to ensure adherence to established standards.
1) Incorporates Lahey Clinic Guiding Principles and Mission Statement into daily activities

2) Provides direct supervision of functional area including assignment of personnel
3) Accountable for qualitative and quantitative results.
4) Establishes work plan ensuring timely completion of assigned tasks.
5) Problems lacking clear precedent are reviewed with manager/supervisor prior to taking action.
6) Stocks assigned stations accurately according to established par levels for all items (100%).
7) Label, dates, and rotates menu items and discards all food items after three (3) days.
8) Dates all opened foods such as protein salads and canned fruits. Also follows dates stamped on all milks per HACCP regulations.
9) Expedites patient meal service by ensuring that colleagues are focused on duties.
10) Uses proper portioning utensil.
11) Follows recipes
12) Prepares / portions cake, custards, jello and fruit as needed.
13) Ensures accurate identification of the patient before meal delivery.
14) Maintains, monitors, and documents hot and cold food temperatures.
15) Accurately assembles patient meals
16) Cleans and sanitizes work area in a “clean as you go” manner, cleaning any equipment and small carts.
17) Prepares tube feedings and special nourishments using proper measurements as specified; Properly labels and dates.
18) Prepares sandwiches and salads as needed
19) Ensures daily cleaning assignments are completed
20) Attends all In-services
21) Participates in departmental and/or interdepartmental quality improvement activities.
22) Participates in and successfully completes Mandatory Education.
23) Performs other related duties as assigned by supervisor or manager
24) Organizational Requirements:
* Maintains strict adherence to the Lahey Clinic Confidentiality Policy.

* Participates in and successfully completes Mandatory Education.
* Performs all other duties as needed or directed to meet the needs of the department.
**Minimum Qualifications:**
Education: high school degree preferred
Licensure, Certification, Registration: None
Skills, Knowledge & Abilities:
* Good written and oral communication skills
* Ability to speak and read English.
Experience: Minimum of two years of hospital or nursing home or food service experience required.
Supervisory experience preferred or demonstrated supervisory ability.
**Pay Range:**
$18.74 - $25.22
The pay range listed for this position is the base hourly wage range the organization reasonably and in good faith expects to pay for this position at this time. Actual compensation is determined based on several factors, that may include seniority, education, training, relevant experience, relevant certifications, geography of work location, job responsibilities, or other applicable factors permissible by law. Compensation may exceed the base hourly rate depending on shift differentials, call pay, premium pay, overtime pay, and other additional pay practices, as applicable to the position and in accordance with the law.
