This job will be accepting job applications until the position is filled. **Hourly:** $19.70 - $19.70 **Department:** Culture & Recreation, Recreation **Division:** Aquatics **FLSA:** Non-Exempt **Job Description:** In this role, you will monitor activities in swimming areas to prevent accidents and provide assistance to swimmers ###  Examples of Duties: * Rescues swimmers in danger of drowning and administers first aid.   * Maintains order in swimming areas.   * Cautions swimmers regarding unsafe areas. Inspects facilities for cleanliness. * Cleans and refills swimming pool. * Determines chlorine content and pH value of water with water testing kit. * Conducts or officiates swimming meets. * Gives swimming instructions. * Performs other duties as assigned. ###  Basic Qualifications: * 16 years of age by start date. * Valid StarGuard Lifeguard Certification or completion of the class before start date. You must be able to: * Swim 50 meters * Swim 50 meters with a rescue tube * Tread water for 2 minutes without using hands * Retrieve a 10lb object from deep end of the pool * First Aid/CPR for Professional Rescuers.
