**The role**
The Ocean Freight Analyst is responsible for end-to-end coordination, planning, and execution of ocean and inland freight operations. The role ensures timely and accurate shipment handling, documentation compliance, capacity management, cost monitoring, and communication with carriers, customs brokers, warehouse teams, and cross-functional supply chain stakeholders. The planner plays a critical role in operational efficiency, co-ordination with 3PSP, cost optimization, and service-level delivery to customers and internal teams.
**What you'll be responsible for**
* **Process Ownership & Implementation**
Validate shipment requirements, including SLI accuracy and completeness. Manage quotation requests with Global Procurement and evaluate offers received. Plan, create, and manage orders and shipment movements in UTMS (ocean and inland legs). Check carrier nominations, vessel schedules, and container availability. Manage vessel booking, slot availability, and inland transport arrangements. Execute shipment acceptance, container number updates, and seal registration. Monitor end-to-end shipment flow until final delivery. Receive, verify, and distribute all shipping documents (BOL/SWB, CO, DG docs, VGM, certificates).
* **Performance Monitoring & Analysis**
Track KPIs, compliance metrics, and risk indicators. Provide data-driven insights and reporting for decision-making. Conduct root cause analysis of process inefficiencies.
* **3PSP & Operational Support**
Provide guidance to Logistics teams and 3PSPs. Ensure accurate and consistent execution of ocean logistics process. Support issue resolution and escalations with structured analysis.
* **Continuous Improvement & Policy Support**
Identify gaps, risks, and improvement opportunities. Support policy updates and process enhancements. Drive standardization and best practice adoption.
* **Risk Control**
Monitor exposure vs. limits and identify early warning signals. Initiate mitigation actions for high service lanes.
**We're looking for someone who**
* Bachelor’s degree in supply chain, Logistics, International Trade, Business, or related field.
* 10 years of experience in ocean freight, forwarding, or global logistics operations.
* Experience working with carriers, customs brokers, procurement, and warehouse partners.
* Proficiency in MS Excel and logistics digital tools.
* Fluency in English; additional languages are an advantage.
* Strong knowledge of ocean freight operations, shipping documentation, and customs processes.
* Proficiency in logistics systems such as UTMS, NeoNav, DCIW, or similar TMS platforms.
* Excellent communication and stakeholder-management skills.
* Strong analytical abilities with attention to detail in cost and documentation verification
* Ability to problem-solve under pressure and manage disruptions effectively.
* High organizational, time-management, and multitasking capabilities.
