**General Description:**
The Mammographer performs specialized breast imaging services on OU Health patients to aid Providers in the diagnosis, care, treatment and surveillance of breast conditions, defects and/or diseases. This position is intended for those who are gaining experience as a Mammographer or experienced imaging professionals who wish to begin a career in Mammography. Work is typically performed in outpatient environments across OU Health locations.
**Essential Responsibilities:**

* Under general supervision, performs diagnostic imaging on patients as ordered by a care provider.
* Ensures testing is performed safely and with the highest quality standards, maintaining a consistent focus on patient‑centric care.
* Prepares patients for procedures and reviews clinical history to align with provider-ordered tests.
* Responds to inquiries from patients and family members, provides clear information regarding diagnostic testing and expected result timelines.
* Collaborates with team members across OU Health including Providers to provide exceptional patient care.
* Utilizes a variety of highly specialized mammography equipment and techniques to perform diagnostic procedures in accordance with established scope of practice guidelines.
* Conducts post-testing quality reviews to confirm that all required elements are completed, documented and align with departmental and accreditation standards.
* Transfers images and data to the appropriate electronic health system, enters technical data/findings and prepares study for reporting by physician.
* Performs quality control checks, cleaning, disinfecting and other equipment maintenance tasks per manufacturer instructions for use and other regulatory guidelines.
* Ensures that technical quality of testing meets established protocols and applicable accreditation standards.
* Assists with quality assurance and performance improvement tasks as requested.
* May support OU Health's academic partnerships by actively engaging in teaching of students in the radiologic program.
* May serve as a departmental preceptor to provide instruction and mentorship to new or less experienced team members. Assists with onboarding of new team members.
* Supports inventory tasks as needed to help ensure supplies are available.
**General Responsibilities:**

**Minimum Qualifications (Level 1):**
**Education:** Graduate of an accredited imaging/radiology program as defined by ARRT. Completion of JRCERT accredited Military Educational Program is accepted in lieu of other educational requirements.
**Experience:** No prior experience required.
**License(s)/Certification(s)/Registration(s) Required:** Current Basic Life Support (BLS) issued by the American Heart Association (AHA) required upon hire.
ARRT(RT)(M) required within 1 year of hire.
**Minimum Qualifications (Level 2):**
**Education:** Associate's Degree from an accredited imaging/radiology program as defined by ARDMS, ARRT and/or CCI.
**Experience:** At least 3 years of experience as a Mammographer required.
**License(s)/Certification(s)/Registration(s) Required:** Current Basic Life Support (BLS) issued by the American Heart Association (AHA) required upon hire.
ARRT(RT)(M) required.
**Minimum Qualifications (Level 3):**
**Education:** Associate's Degree from an accredited imaging/radiology program as defined by ARDMS, ARRT and/or CCI.
**Experience:** At least 5 years of experience as a Mammographer required.
**License(s)/Certification(s)/Registration(s) Required:** Current Basic Life Support issued by the American Heart Association required upon hire.
ARRT(RT)(M) required.
**Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:**
* Skill in applying principles of mammography and/or radiologic technology, medical imaging, medical terminology, positioning of patients, and medical ethics.
* Demonstrates foundational knowledge of normal and abnormal anatomy and physiology, basic mammography principles and/or radiologic technology, medical imaging, medical terminology. Applies core mammography theory, practice and techniques to perform examinations and complete basic post-processing analysis, and documentation with general supervision or assistance.
* Demonstrates clear and respectful verbal and written communication skills to exchange basic information with patients, families, and team members.
* Ability to prioritize and complete assigned clinical and non‑clinical work tasks with guidance and direction, progressively developing independence in managing routine responsibilities.
* Ability to manage multiple tasks and remain composed in stressful situations with guidance and support, progressively developing effective coping and prioritization skills.
