Role Summary

**Medical Coding Manager** is a people leadership role responsible for overseeing medical coding quality, compliance, and operational performance across front-end coding and denials coding workflows. This position is based in **Chennai, India** and follows a **hybrid** work model. In this role, you will help maintain accurate coding practices, support revenue cycle outcomes, and contribute to a collaborative, high-volume healthcare environment. This position reports to the **Coding Director**.
Team Summary

The Medical Coding Manager will join a revenue cycle management team focused on coding quality, coding compliance, and denial resolution support. The team partners closely with operational and client-facing groups to help improve coding accuracy, reduce rework, and support timely reimbursement outcomes. We are looking for a **Medical Coding Manager** to join our team within the Technology Enabled Services organization. In this role, you will support medical coding operations that help ensure compliance with healthcare regulations and timely delivery of coding services for clients.
You will lead daily coding activities across front-end coding and denials coding workflows, while supporting quality, productivity, and consistency across the team. The ideal candidate brings experience in a healthcare revenue cycle management environment, a strong understanding of coding standards, and the ability to guide work in a fast-paced setting.
This role is well suited for someone who can balance operational oversight with hands-on problem solving, communicate clearly across teams, and use sound judgment to support accurate coding outcomes. You will also help strengthen workflow efficiency, support team development, and contribute to ongoing process improvements.
Essential Job Responsibilities

* **Manage** daily medical coding operations across front-end coding and denials coding workflows.
* **Oversee** coding quality, accuracy, and turnaround expectations in alignment with healthcare regulations and internal standards.
* **Review** complex coding scenarios and support resolution of coding-related issues.
* **Lead** team performance through workload coordination, coaching, and regular feedback.
* **Partner** with operational and cross-functional teams to address coding denials and process gaps.
* **Monitor** key performance measures related to quality, productivity, and service delivery.
* **Support** coding compliance efforts by applying current coding guidelines and documentation standards.
* **Guide** the team in applying AI-enabled tools and workflow improvements to increase efficiency, while using professional judgment to validate outputs and maintain coding accuracy.
* **Contribute** to continuous improvement efforts that strengthen coding processes and reduce rework.
* **Ensure** timely escalation and resolution of coding issues that may affect client outcomes.
Additional Job Responsibilities

* **Assist** with onboarding and knowledge sharing for new team members.
* **Support** audits and internal reviews related to coding quality and compliance.
* **Collaborate** on updates to coding workflows, policies, and team reference materials.
* **Participate** in meetings to discuss operational priorities and service delivery needs.
* **Provide** input on training needs based on trends, findings, or recurring errors.
* **Help** maintain documentation related to coding processes and team standards.
* **Contribute** to special projects supporting coding operations or revenue cycle initiatives.
* **Perform** other duties as assigned based on team and business needs.
Expected Education & Experience
-------------------------------
* **Bachelor’s degree** or equivalent combination of education and experience.
* **Active coding certification** required: **Certified Professional Coder (CPC)**, **Certified Interventional Coder (CIC)**, **Certified Coding Specialist (CCS)**, or equivalent.
* **10–13 years of experience** in medical coding and/or healthcare revenue cycle management.
* **8–10 years of experience** in a fast-paced healthcare environment, with hands-on experience in **front-end coding** and **denials coding**.
* **Experience in healthcare revenue cycle management (RCM)** is required.
* **Working experience in inpatient Diagnosis-Related Group (DRG) coding** is preferred.
* **Strong knowledge** of coding guidelines, documentation standards, and reimbursement workflows.
* **Ability** to manage coding work in a dynamic, deadline-driven environment.
* **Experience** supporting quality review, coding compliance, and denial resolution processes.
* **Clear communication** and collaboration skills for working with internal partners and operational teams.
