Network Engineer

**The Key Skills Required.** * Hands-on experience in networking, routing, and switching technologies of 5 years and above. * In-depth understanding of networking protocols such as IPSEC, HSRP, BGP, OSPF, RIPV2, 802.11, QoS), etc. * Solid understanding of the OSI or TCP/IP model. * Network Planning, Design and Implementation experience in HLD and LLD * Throughout knowledge of IPv4/v6 migration techniques, policy languages * Solid understanding of routing and switching products and technologies * Experience with firewalls, internet VPNs, SDWAN, remote implementation, troubleshooting, and problem resolution. Experience in reverse engineering and problem solving * Strong overall understanding of the technologies and platforms specific to a large cable and telecommunications operator. * CCNA or CCNP certifications is a plus. Knowledge of ITIL and ITSM processes, like, SLA, Change/Release Management. Experience in using ticketing tools such as service now, remedy will be an added advantage. * Excellent written and verbal communication skills. **Should possess very good knowledge in the areas of :** * establish the networking environment by designing system configuration, directing system installation and defining, documenting and enforcing system standards * design and implement new solutions and improve resilience of the current environment * maximize network performance by monitoring performance, troubleshooting network problems and outages, scheduling upgrades and collaborating with network architects on network optimization * undertake data network fault investigations in local and wide area environments using information from multiple sources * secure network systems by establishing and enforcing policies, and defining and monitoring access * support and administer firewall environments in line with IT security policy * report network operational status by gathering and prioritizing information and managing projects * upgrade data network equipment to the latest stable firmware releases * configure routing and switching equipment, hosted IP voice services and firewalls * provide remote support to on-site engineers and end users/customers during installation * provide remote troubleshooting and fault finding if issues occur upon initial installation * undertake capacity management and audit of IP addressing and hosted devices within data centers * liaise with project management teams, third-line engineers and service desk engineers on a regular basis * speak to customers via email and phone for initial requirement capture. * Excellent troubleshooting problem solving and organizational skills * Media Capacity Policy management & basic health checkup needs to be managed * Monitor and resolve alerts * Monitor system security
