**Summary** **Job Description:** **Surgical Nursing Assistant-OR** Part Time I First Shift Weekends Surgical Services I Lexington, KY Baptist Health Lexington Surgical Services Department encompasses several key areas: the Pre-Op Department, 20 operating rooms with a business office staff responsible for scheduling, a Postoperative Care Unit, an Endoscopy Department with dedicated pre- and post-op areas, and a Sterile Processing Department. **Description Surgical Nursing Assistant-OR:** * At the direction of management and/or nursing personnel, assists the hospital staff/department in the provision of high quality, safe patient care * Provides basic physical care of the patient. * Demonstrates safe patient transport with stretcher, wheelchairs, and patient beds. * Performs tasks and procedures as directed according to hospital policy and procedure. * Demonstrates knowledge of and utilizes principles of aseptic technique. * Ensures positive customer relations interactions. * Actively participates in unit activities. * Aid in Surgical Procedures and certain basic circulating functions under the direction of the Registered Nurse in the Operating Room. * **Training Schedule-**Monday-Friday (6:30am-3:30pm) for 3 months; transition to weekend schedule after training. **Requirements Surgical Nursing Assistant-OR:** * High School Diploma and/or Equivalent. * Current KY Nurse Aide Certification, or successful completions of first year of Nursing program with validation of clinical rotation. * Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required.
