**Position Overview**

The Patient Accounts Representative at United Health Services (UHS) Home Care helps ensure patients receive the services they need by accurately processing referrals, verifying insurance coverage, and managing billing information. Working closely with patients, healthcare providers, and internal teams, this role supports a smooth care experience, helps resolve barriers to service, and contributes to positive patient and revenue cycle outcomes. Through dependable service, attention to detail, and collaboration, this position helps make every connection count.

**Job Responsibilities**
=========================
**Essential Functions:**
* Process patient referrals and orders accurately by entering required information into systems and generating delivery documentation to support timely service delivery
* Verify insurance coverage and secure prior authorizations to ensure services and equipment meet payer requirements
* Communicate with patients, referral sources, physician offices, and internal teams to resolve questions, corrections, and documentation needs
* Maintain current knowledge of insurance rules and billing regulations to support accurate processing and compliance
**Scope and Impact:**
* Contribute directly to patient satisfaction and revenue cycle outcomes through accurate and timely order processing
* Exercise judgment within established guidelines to identify issues and escalate complex cases as appropriate
* Work under general supervision with accountability for assigned referrals, authorizations, and follow-up activities
**Compliance and Professional:**
* Protect patient privacy by handling demographic, insurance, and billing information in accordance with HIPAA and organizational standards
* Complete required training and maintains competency related to insurance verification, authorization processes, and billing workflows
* Safeguard sensitive data by following established security policies and procedures, using systems responsibly, and promptly reporting potential security incidents, risks, or policy violations
* As applicable to your role, support cybersecurity and data protection requirements throughout the supplier lifecycle by coordinating vendor risk assessments, monitoring third-party compliance, and promptly reporting identified supply chain or cybersecurity risks
**Additional Expectations:**
* Serve as backup for team members and provide coverage for showroom operations and support retail sales activities as needed

* Perform additional responsibilities as required to meet department and organizational needs
**Position Qualifications**

**Required:**
* High School Diploma or equivalent
* Up to 1 year of related experience in a role or field that provides transferable skills or knowledge relevant to the position
* Up to 1 year of customer/patient-facing experience directly interacting and communication with the public
**Preferred:**
* Up to 1 year of healthcare experience working in the healthcare industry in any job function
