Job Description

**Role Overview** We are seeking an operational specialist to support the Google Meet Hardware (Rooms) team in New York City. This role will own end-to-end hardware inventory lifecycle tracking, physical setup and maintenance of the NYC testing lab, and procurement/budget support for hardware orders and vendor contracts. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, comfortable working with physical hardware and enterprise ERP/procurement systems, and proactive in maintaining a clean, fully operational lab environment. **\*Key Responsibilities\*\*** 1\. Hardware Inventory Lifecycle & Asset Management\*    - \*Asset Ingestion & Tracking:\* Intake all incoming prototype, dogfood,    and production hardware into inventory tracking tools (SAP Prod / Agile /    gPLM). Record serial numbers, MAC addresses, asset tags, and assign    appropriate Project Codes (e.g., brand new MP, dogfood, development,    trusted tester).    - \*Inventory Trackers & Spreadsheets:\* Maintain and update primary    hardware inventory trackers (NYC Hardware tracker, GPN Index, Rooms QA    inventory) to ensure real-time accuracy of device locations, statuses, and    assignees.    - \*Audits & Reconciliation:\* Perform bi-weekly physical inventory    counts/audits across storage rooms, lab benches, and desk areas. Reconcile    discrepancies between physical counts and system records.    - \*Disposal & E-Cycling (Dispo):\* Coordinate quarterly hardware purges,    routine lab cleanup, and e-recycling workflows via GUTS and secure disposal    partners (SLS/SIMS). Properly categorize, de-register, update status to    "Retired" in SAP Prod, and stage hardware in designated disposal bins.    - \*Check-in / Check-out Support:\* Manage asset returns and reassignments    for cross-functional team members (SWE, QA, PM, UX). \*2. NYC Lab Setup, Device Provisioning & Lab Maintenance\*    - \*Unboxing & Mechanical Assembly:\* Unbox, assemble, mount, and cable    new Meet Hardware kits, compute boxes, touch controllers, cameras,    microphones, soundbars, and peripheral accessories.    - \*Room & Bench Setup:\* Deploy and configure Meet Hardware test setups    (Small, Medium, Large room configurations) across lab benches and test    rooms in the NYC facility.    - \*Device Provisioning & Network Connectivity:\* Ensure devices are    properly powered, enrolled into appropriate test domains/Armada fleet,    connected to the CE/test corporate network, and updated to designated    ChromeOS / Meet software builds.    - \*Day-to-Day Lab Readiness:\* Maintain the NYC lab in an "always-ready"    state:    - Verify all test stations, displays, peripherals, and compute units are    powered on, connected, healthy, and ready for immediate engineering and QA    use.    - Continuously organize lab benches, power rails, cabling, and staging    shelves.    - Triage basic device power, cable, or network connectivity issues    before escalating to engineering. \*3. Procurement & Budget Operations\*    - \*Purchase Order (PO) Creation:\* Initiate and manage POs for hardware    purchases, OEM test units (Logitech, Poly, etc.), lab equipment, and    third-party vendor services through Google procurement tools (Buying Hub /    Navigo).    - \*Risk Assessments & Compliance:\* Execute risk assessments in Navigo    and ensure proper compliance categorization prior to PO submission.    - \*Budget & Contract Tracking:\* Track PO approvals, burn rates, and    active vendor contracts against Cost Center 716 utilizing the internal    contract and PO tracker.    - \*Invoice & Supplier Operations:\* Coordinate with external suppliers    (e.g., Gecko, NTT Data, Maverick Labels) and Google vendor onboarding    systems (Spend/Ariba) to verify invoice accuracy, assist with receipt of    goods, and route approvals. **\*Required Qualifications & Experience\***    - \*Experience:\* 2+ years of experience in hardware lab management, IT    asset management, logistics coordination, or IT operations.    - \*Hands-on Hardware Skills:\* Comfortable unboxing, assembling,    mounting, and cabling conference room hardware, displays, and peripheral    electronics.    - \*Systems Proficiency:\*    - Prior hands-on experience using enterprise ERP/inventory tracking    systems (e.g., SAP, Agile/gPLM).    - Familiarity with enterprise purchasing/procurement systems (e.g.,    Ariba, Buying Hub, Navigo, Coupa).    - Proficiency with Google Workspace (Google Sheets, Docs, Drive).    - \*Organizational Skills:\* High attention to detail with physical    inventory tracking, serial numbers, and barcode auditing.    - \*Communication & Collaboration:\* Excellent communication skills to    interface with SWEs, QA, Program Managers, facilities teams, and external    hardware vendors.    - \*Physical Requirements:\* Ability to lift and move equipment up to    35–50 lbs (displays, packaged hardware kits, dispo bins). **\*Preferred Qualifications\***    - Familiarity with ChromeOS, Google Meet Hardware peripherals, or video    conferencing systems (Logitech, Poly, Neat, Lenovo, etc.).    - Experience working inside tech hardware testing labs, AV testing    environments, or electronics engineering labs.    - Prior experience managing vendor quotes, statements of work (SOWs),    and cost center budget trackers.   **Salary Range** $66,120.00 - $104,400.00 USD (Salary) * _Please note that the salary information provided herein is base pay only (gross); it does not include other forms of compensation which may or may not apply to this specific position, namely, performance-based bonuses, benefits-related payments, or other general incentives - none of which are guaranteed, may be subject to specific eligibility requirements, and are wholly within the discretion of Astreya to remit._ * _Further, the salary information noted above is a range that consists of a minimum and maximum rate of pay for this specific position.
