School of Arts & Design - Theater and Dance Costume Shop Assistant

**Job Title: Theater and Dance Costume Shop Assistant**  Department: School of Arts & Design  Supervisor:  Mallory Wampler  Starting Rate of Pay:  $8.00  Length of Time: Eligible for rehire on a semester basis.    Department Description  The Department of Theater and Dance offers a wide variety of collaborative, hands\-on learning opportunities for students. Costume Shop Assistants will help in the construction and alterations of costumes for all department main stage and black box productions in the department season.  Job Description   Students will assist the Costume Shop Manager and Designer with the construction and alteration of costumes.  Occasional pulling costumes from storage and return/organizing of costumes back to storage is required.   Job Location/ Hours Required   Students will report to the Costume Studio located on the lower level of the Empty Space Theater for all work hours.  Must be able to work 6 hours per week for 12-13 weeks of the semester on a set schedule.  Responsibilities:  * Participate in the construction of all department productions  * Attend all mandatory work calls during the production period  * Assist the shop manager with maintaining the cleanliness of the shop  * Follow the shop rules for appropriate behavior while working in the shop  * Other duties as necessary for individual productions  Required Qualifications:  Students must have basic proficiency in hand and machine stitching  Students must be kind and friendly and able to work quickly when necessary   Students must also be organized and have good time management  Desired Skills:  * Must have a minimum 3.4 overall GPA  * A desire to learn more about theater and dance
