Secondary System Engineer

******Job Description Summary****** =================================== The Secondary System Engineer will carry out engineering designs in the protection, control and auxiliary systems discipline for transmission & distribution and power generation projects and tenders in accordance with the project specifications, agreed timeframes and Company Management Systems. In this role you will provide direction and assistance to a work group to meet assigned objectives, work within defined parameters to make decisions, apply concepts to issues of moderate complexity, and resolve issues through immediate action or short-term planning. **Job Description** =================== **Essential Responsibilities** * Be part of the team in designing or in charge of designing the protection and control system, Electrical distribution, & auxiliary systems of a High voltage & Medium voltage AIS & GIS substations * Execute the design, analysis, and / or evaluation of assigned projects using sound engineering principles and adhering to business standards, practices, procedures, and product / program requirements. * Carry out factory and/or site testing of protection systems to validate the design, manufacture and installation, utilising a range of modern secondary injection and protocol test equipment. * Document technical data generated by the assigned project consistent with engineering policies and procedures. * Provide technical leadership to personnel supporting the assigned project. * Carry out investigations into protection systems behaviour and provide timely communications on significant issues or developments. * Participate on teams assigned to address organizational initiatives and generic issues. * Participate as a presenter or reviewer in technical and program reviews. * Assure proper documentation of technical data generated for the assigned projects and/or tasks consistent with engineering policies and procedures. * Demonstrate EHS leadership and ensure Zero Deviation Plan is implemented within the team. * Identifies and evaluate EHS risks in own area and implements practical measures.  * Participates in hierarchical/ team safety visits and leads EHS improvement initiatives. * Sets objectives and measures results to encourages EHS performance as a contributing factor to reach business objectives. * Sets the example by demonstrating the proper acts and actively observes work conditions and behaviours, giving constructive feedback and celebrating EHS effective prevention. * Actively participates in defining corrective actions when work is unsafe or when an uncontrolled risk is observed. * Routinely observes routines and behaviours of others and provides immediate feedback regarding unsafe behaviour and celebrates achievements or safe behaviours. **Required Qualifications & Experience** * Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in Science or Engineering, with major in electrical engineering * At least 4-5 years’ working experience in power system protection, such as design, consulting, testing, and commissioning. * Experience of a leading role in managing engineering activities is a plus * Knowledge of Australian and IEC standards related to power systems and equipment. * Ability to travel onsite when required.
