The System Offices is one of several system members within the Texas A&M University System representing one of the largest systems of higher education in the nation, with a network of 12 universities, a comprehensive health science center, eight state agencies, Texas A&M – Fort Worth and the Texas A&M - RELLIS Campus. **Job Description Summary:**
The Senior Research Development Officer provides strategic leadership for large-scale research development initiatives across TAMUS member institutions. The position serves as a senior advisor to faculty, research leadership, and institutional stakeholders to increase competitiveness for federal, foundation, industry, and philanthropic funding opportunities.
**Responsibilities:**
\- Draft, edit, and refine proposal narratives for federal, foundation, and industry sponsors.
\- Collaborate with faculty to articulate compelling research impact, innovation, and broader impacts.
\- Review proposals for compliance with sponsor guidelines and evaluation criteria.
\- Develop boilerplate content, institutional descriptions, and shared proposal resources.
\- Coordinate proposal timelines and writing schedules.
\- Provide writing workshops and grantsmanship training.
\- Support development of white papers, concept papers, and strategic research communications.
\- Maintain quality assurance processes for major proposal submissions.
\- Other duties as assigned.
**Education and Experience:**
\- Master's degree.
\- Four years of grant writing, scientific editing, or research communications experience.
**Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:**
\- Demonstrated success with funded federal proposals.
\- Exceptional writing, editing, and project management skills.
\- Knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet, and database applications.
\- Verbal and written communication skills.
\- Organizational skills.
\- Ability to independently make decisions.
\- Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others.
**Preferred Qualifications:**
\- Doctorate degree.
