You'll set architectural direction, take on our hardest problems, and mentor other engineers, all while staying hands-on in the code. This is a high-ownership, high-impact role for someone who leads through technical excellence. ### How you will achieve success: * Lead the design and architecture of complex, high-scale services and integrations, from concept to production. * Drive technical direction and make the key architectural decisions that shape the team's roadmap. * Mentor and guide engineers, and raise the bar through thoughtful design and code reviews. * Own ambiguous, high-impact problems end-to-end — breaking them down and driving them to delivery. * Champion reliability, observability, automation, and operational excellence. * Partner closely with Product, Data, Infrastructure, and other engineering teams. * Stay hands-on: write high-quality, maintainable, well-tested code. ### What experiences will help you in this role: * 7+ years of backend software engineering experience. * Deep system design and distributed systems expertise — you've designed and owned systems at scale. * A track record of technical leadership: mentoring engineers, influencing architecture, and setting engineering standards. * Excellent problem-solving skills, a strong sense of ownership, and comfort with ambiguity. * Strong with cloud infrastructure (AWS or Azure), microservices, and event-driven architecture. * Strong debugging, testing, and documentation skills. * Excellent communication and cross-team collaboration. * Nice-to-have: experience with high-throughput or marketplace/ecommerce systems. ### We invest heavily in our engineers.
