Senior Systems Engineer

**Job Purpose:** Our Senior Systems Engineer will be responsible for designing and developing solutions to complex applications problems, system administration issues, or network concerns. **Job Responsibilities:** ● Perform systems management and integration functions. ● Demonstrate initiative through expansion of: technical knowledge, interpersonal skills, business knowledge, and organizational skills. ● Proactively identify any issues with OS functionality, abnormalities in performance, server hardware and software to ensure stability and availability 24X7X365. ● Maintain a strong working knowledge of ITIL Service Management is required. Be able to follow Change, Incident and Problem Management activities. ● Work with cross-functional teams throughout IT to isolate and resolve unplanned outages. ● Respond to alerts from the enterprise monitoring tools, automation and escalation from IT Service Now. Have a strong knowledge of Enterprise Monitoring Tools such as App Man and SolarWinds is critical. Familiarity with Incident Ticketing System (ServiceNow) is a plus. ● Responsible for providing day to day support for OS/HW recovery and availability, System Administration via pro-active monitoring for UNIX/Linux (Solaris, Linux) environments, troubleshooting using native OS tools. ● Troubleshooting and familiarity with various Middleware and Database components (WebLogic, WebSphere, JBOSS and Oracle) is essential. **Additional Responsibilities & Qualifications:** ● Design, implement, and manage complex systems and infrastructure solutions, including servers, storage, virtualization, networking, and cloud services, to meet business needs and objectives. ● Evaluate, recommend, and implement technologies, tools, and best practices to optimize system performance, reliability, scalability, and security. ● Perform system installation, configuration, maintenance, monitoring, troubleshooting, and documentation to ensure smooth and uninterrupted operation of IT systems and services. ● Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including IT architects, developers, and project managers, to plan, coordinate, and execute system upgrades, migrations, and deployments. ● Conduct capacity planning, performance tuning, and optimization to ensure efficient utilization of resources and infrastructure. **Work Experience:** ● 5-10 years of related job experience. ● Ability to manage multiple projects, work under pressure, and adapt to sudden changes in the work environment. ● Experience designing data models and visuals using Power BI and Tableau. ● Experience of planning, managing and organizing resources within short/medium timescales within the overall policy framework. ● Experience writing SQL queries (familiar with primary and foreign keys, as well as joins and aggregate functions). ● Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite. ● Strong customer service skills (friendly, courteous and helpful). ● Strong planning and organization skills are required. **Education:** ● Bachelor's Degree **What We Offer** * Engaging and inclusive culture with employee-led Employee Resource Groups, Veritiv Cultural Alliance, recognition platform, etc. * Extensive training opportunities, professional development programs, career pathing, and mentorship opportunities. * Collaborative atmosphere with our customers and suppliers to create healthier, safer and more sustainable communities through our responsible operations and innovative solutions. * Healthcare benefits (including medical, dental, vision, and health savings account), life, AD&D, and disability insurance, 401k, paid time off, tuition reimbursement, employee assistance program, and other fringe benefits. **About Veritiv** Together with its subsidiaries, Veritiv is the leading full-service provider of packaging solutions.
