Job Summary
Arriva plc is seeking a highly skilled and experienced engineer to contribute to the maintenance and improvement of our diverse fleet and infrastructure. This role offers the opportunity to apply advanced technical expertise in a dynamic and challenging environment, ensuring the safe and efficient operation of our services.
Job Responsibilities
\* Perform complex diagnostic and repair work on a wide range of mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems within our fleet (e.g., buses, trains) and associated infrastructure.
\* Lead and mentor junior engineers and technicians, providing technical guidance and support on intricate issues.
\* Develop and implement preventative maintenance strategies to minimize downtime and optimize asset longevity.
\* Conduct thorough inspections and testing of equipment to ensure compliance with safety regulations and company standards.
\* Analyze technical data and fault reports to identify root causes of failures and propose effective solutions.
\* Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including operations, safety, and procurement, to enhance overall system performance.
\* Contribute to the design and implementation of engineering modifications and upgrades.
\* Maintain accurate records of all maintenance activities, repairs, and parts used.
\* Adhere strictly to all health and safety policies and procedures.
Job Qualifications
\* A Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Automotive, or related field) or equivalent vocational qualifications with extensive relevant experience.
\* Demonstrable experience (typically 5+ years) in a hands-on engineering role, preferably within the transport, heavy machinery, or similar industrial sectors.
\* Proven expertise in diagnosing and rectifying complex mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic faults.
\* Strong understanding of relevant industry standards, regulations, and best practices.
\* Proficiency in using diagnostic tools and equipment.
\* Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work effectively under pressure.
\* Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to lead and collaborate effectively.
\* Commitment to continuous professional development.
Pay and shifts:
£25.57p per hour - £1109.56 weekly
