Joining the Secret Service as a Special Agent will allow you to perform critical protective and investigative assignments. The Special Agent position starts at a base salary of $65,435.00 (GL-07, step 1), with promotion potential to $158,322.00 (GS-13, step 10). This position is covered by Law Enforcement Availability Pay (LEAP) which is an additional compensation of 25% of the basic rate of pay. Recruitment incentive up to $75,000. BE A PART OF THE HAZARDOUS AGENT MITIGATION & MEDICAL EMERGENCY RESPONSE TEAM The mission of the Secret Service Special Operations Division's Hazardous Agent Mitigation & Medical Emergency Response (HAMMER) Team is to provide hazardous agent mitigation, emergency medical intervention, and extrication support to our protective details. In close coordination with other United States Secret Service (Secret Service) tactical elements, protective details, and medical units, HAMMER can respond into a hazardous, toxic, or lethal environment to locate, extract, decontaminate, and provide life-saving medical interventions for Secret Service protectees. HAMMER personnel utilize cutting-edge monitoring technology to survey the immediate vicinity around the protectee for chemical, biological, radiological, and nuclear (CBRN) threats. IMPORTANT: If you are unable to successfully complete HAMMER selection school, EMT school or the basic school required for HAMMER, you will have an opportunity to remain in the Special Agent position in a non-tactical role.
