Staff Attorney - Workers Compensation Claims

The Workers Compensation Staff Attorney provides legal defense to policyholders and supports NJM’s Workers Compensation Claims Department. **Essential Duties and Responsibilities:** . * Protect the interest of NJM policyholders in litigated workers’ compensation matters through the point of settlement or decision * Work with staff in the preparation of pleadings, motions, briefs and other documents * Provide case status updates, recommendations, and legal guidance to policyholders and Workers’ Compensation Claims staff * Build and maintain relationships with internal and external customers * Work collaboratively with other enterprise stakeholders in the defense of Workers’ Compensation claims * Handle complex litigation and develop litigation strategies in collaboration with policyholders   * Perform other duties as assigned **Required Qualifications:** * Critical thinking skills and attention to detail * Ability to work independently * Strong negotiation, communication and writing skills * Ability to problem-solve and make decisions * Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines * Strong relationship-building skills and a commitment to customer service * Computer skills, including Microsoft Office and Outlook * Workers Compensation experience, including multiple jurisdictions * Juris Doctor degree * License to practice law in the state of New Jersey **Preferred Qualifications:** * 3 or more years of experience **Compensation:** Salary is commensurate with experience and credentials. Pay Range: $102,745-$116,255 Eligible full-time employees receive a competitive Total Rewards package, including but not limited to a 401(k) with employer match up to 8% and additional service-based contributions, Health, Dental, and Vision insurance, Life and Disability coverage, generous PTO, Paid Sick Leave, and paid parental leave in addition to state-mandated leave.
