Will maintain kitchen work areas, equipment, and utensils in a clean and orderly condition. You will stock and replace supplies in appropriate locations. Transfer by hand supplies and equipment between storage areas and work areas. Sort and remove trash, placing it in designated pick up areas. Job Description --------------- **Essential Functions**     * _Wash dishes, glassware, flatware, pots and/or pans using dishwashers or by hand_ * _Sort and place clean dishes, utensils, and cooking equipment in storage areas_ * _Sort and remove trash, placing it in designated pickup areas_ * _Rotates stock using FIFO guidelines and maintains all storage areas including refrigerators and freezers in a neat, orderly and sanitary manner_ * _Prepares and transports goods to food production and service areas as requisitioned and may stock shelves and service refrigerators and freezers as needed_ * _Label all items upon delivery and match orders with invoice_ * _Keeps all receiving areas, storage areas, including refrigerators and freezers, and carts clean, organized, and sanitary_ * _Completes general cleaning duties such as floor care, and minor equipment maintenance as needed_ * _Adheres to industry accepted safe food handling guidelines, ensures received and stored goods are safe and secure from loss and maintains a safe work area following generally accepted Workplace safety rules_ * _Conducts daily physical inventory of all products_ * _Follows safety and sanitation procedures with all guidelines from OSHA, Department of Public Health and Risk Management_ **Knowledge and Skills** * _Detail orientation and self-motivation_ _Interpersonal and organizational skills_ * _Previous experience in a high volume full service kitchen (desirable)_ * _Excellent verbal and customer service skills_ * _Sense of urgency_ * _Excellent multitasking skills_ * _Ability to move throughout the café and kitchen in a safe manner_ * _Knowledge of kitchen and food safety and sanitation_ * _Clean professional appearance_ * _Must be able to stand a minimum of 8 hours a day_ **Education and Work Experience** * _High School Diploma or GED_ * _At least 1 year experience in a dishwashing and/or receiving position required_ * _Two (2) years of experience receiving and storing goods; and/or prior experience with PC data entry are preferred._ * _Must have demonstrated basic math skills including food service weights and measures and be able to read and understand receiving lists, packaging labels and vendor invoices._ **Work Environment** _The work environment for Steward includes the following large kitchen environment elements and exposures_ * _Fast paced kitchen_ * _High sense of urgency_ * _Moderate to high noise level_ * _Some steam from the dishwasher and or sprayers_ * _Exposure to soap and cleaning solutions_ * _Slippery/uneven surfaces may be encountered_ * _Frequently moving from cold freezer to normal kitchen environment_ **Physical Demands** * _Lifting, carrying and possible moving of equipment required__._  * _Must be able to lift a minimum of 50 lbs_ * _Must be able to stand a minimum of 8 hours a day_ * _Heavy and repetitive hand and arm motion involved_ * _Standing, walking, bending/twisting, and balance are all required to perform job task_ * _Reaching across surfaces while moving containers, reaching above shoulders for containers for removal and storage, reaching above and outward, to use rinse hose, retrieve or replace storage bins on overhead racks, and reaching across the conveyor of washer to place/pick up pots, pans, and utensils_ * _Carrying containers of different sizes and different types of product of all shapes and sizes_ * _Maintain cleanliness and organization of dry storage/walk-in area, and pick up debris off floor in all areas of the operation__,_ _including the following tasks: crouch, bend, reach, twist, lift to complete task_ * _Pushing and pulling carts both loaded and unloaded_ _Using step ladder to get items at top shelves includes climbing, and reaching_ * _Specific vision abilities required by this position include close vision for safe navigation of work area and use of equipment_ The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
