Surgery Support Technician - Pediatric - Full Time - Days

**Position Title:** ------------------- Surgery Support Technician - Pediatric - Full Time - Days **Department:** --------------- Pediatric OR **Job Description:** -------------------- **General Description:** Under immediate supervision, the Surgical Support Technician is responsible for a variety of duties in support of the Surgical Suites **Essential Responsibilities:** _Responsibilities listed in this section are core to the position.  Inability to perform these responsibilities, with or without an accommodation, may result in disqualification from the position._  * Transports patients, specimens, supplies, blood, and equipment as directed. * Ensures all procedures are followed for the safe transport of blood and other specimens. * Responsible for transporting patients and families to appropriate areas or waiting rooms. * Observes and communicates any changes, such as patient not being ready, to the OR desk or charge nurse. * May be required to take emergency action. * Helps move and position patients in the Surgical Suite as needed. * Completes required documentation. * Immediately reports any changes in patient’s condition during transport. * Performs daily and/or weekly cleaning within the Surgical Suites. * Follows established procedures and guidelines for cleaning operating rooms. * Maintains the cleanliness of the department which includes cleaning hallways, bathrooms, lounges, and supply areas. * Complies with all relevant procedures and regulations related to hospital sanitation, cleanliness, and safety. * Ensures that all procedures and regulations for proper disposal of waste items and material are followed. * Responsible for restocking supplies, linens, and solutions. * Performs other support services as requested. **General Responsibilities:** * Performs other duties as assigned. **Minimum Qualifications:** **Education:** High School Diploma or GED required. **Experience:** No experience required. **License(s)/Certification(s)/Registration(s) Required:** Basic Life Support (BLS) issued by the American Heart Association (AHA) required. **Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:**   * Ability to perform tasks in accordance with established policies, procedures, and regulations. * Knowledge of basic cleaning techniques. * Good communication skills. * Ability to establish and maintain good working relationships with hospital staff and patients. * Ability to function effectively as a member of a team. * Ability to follow verbal and written instructions. * Ability to perform effectively in an emergency situation. **Current OU Health Employees - Please click** [HERE](https://wd5.myworkday.com/oumedicine/login.htmld) **to login.** --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- **OU Health is an equal opportunity employer.
