Join Beca's Applied Technology business and help deliver complex, mission-critical software systems across the defence, aviation, maritime, and other highly regulated sectors. As a Systems Engineer, you'll work on advanced technologies where you’ll use your understanding of software, hardware, and consideration of the user needs, and a system’s environment to solve real-world challenges and produce real-world deliverables.
Working as part of a multidisciplinary team, you'll contribute across the systems engineering lifecycle (think V-Diagrams and requirements management) supporting design and development through to integration, testing, and deployment, and operation. You'll provide technical delivery support and collaborate closely with clients to deliver robust, high-quality solutions.

**In this role you will:**
* Design, develop, integrate, and test embedded/mission-critical systems. Having a strong focus on the integration and interoperability of systems.
* Help define the high-level problem, and the ability to dive into the low-level to produce the technical solutions, that focus on addressing the real problem.
* Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to solve complex technical challenges.
* Support project delivery within time and budget, supporting mission critical systems that must operate first time, every time.

**Mōu ake | About you**
We're looking for a systems engineer who enjoys solving complex problems and working on systems where software interacts closely with hardware and operational environments. You'll bring strong technical capability, sound engineering judgement, and a collaborative approach.
**Key attributes for success in this role include:**
* Eligibility to obtain and maintain a New Zealand Government Security Clearance is a mandatory requirement for this role. Applicants must hold New Zealand Citizenship or New Zealand Permanent Residency to be considered.
* A minimum of 2 years' experience in the engineering industry or a similar role.
* You have the ability to collaborate with our clients, truly understand their problems, and provide through systems analysis to help guide them towards the necessary outcomes.
* Ability to document technical design in detail, producing documentation to support the project outcomes you produce.
* Experience on supporting/developing in for embedded, real-time, or systems-focused environments. This can include low level system design, hardware/software integrated systems or high assurance and high integrity solutions.
* Experience working with solutions that interface with hardware, electronics, sensors, control systems, or integrated platforms.
* A keen appreciation for development of requirements within a systems engineering lifecycle framework, supporting the design and production of outcomes that can be verified against these requirements.
* The ability to work effectively with multidisciplinary teams and communicate with a range of stakeholders.
* Experience working in aerospace, aviation (civil, government, or defence), maritime, nuclear, defence, or other safety-critical, highly regulated industries is highly regarded.
* A tertiary qualification or relevant industry experience in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related discipline.
* Professional membership or accreditation (e.g. INCOSE, IMarEST, IET, RAeS, Engineering NZ), or progression towards chartered status, is advantageous.
**Important:** The successful candidate must be eligible to obtain an NZDF Defence Site Clearance or National Security Clearance. Eligibility to obtain and maintain a New Zealand Government Security Clearance is a mandatory requirement for this position. Security and background checks will be undertaken as part of the recruitment process.
