Job Description

**What you will work on:** * Serve as a lead academic contact for tutors, addressing curriculum needs, answering curriculum questions, and managing student behavior issues * Conduct teaching-focused check-ins to ensure instructional quality and strong student outcomes * Own and continuously improve tutor training, onboarding, and professional development pathways * Implement and act on feedback systems such as QA reviews and NPS, closing the loop with tutors and teams * Ensure tutors have the high-quality curriculum and classroom tools they need to deliver a world-class experience * Act as an internal authority on subject and service questions, tutor teaching issues, and client inquiries regarding teaching methodology * Share responsibility with the Revenue Growth Manager for supporting tutors with parent emails, time-off submissions, TAS issues, policy questions, and professional-growth discussions * Share responsibility for addressing tutor training questions, HR issues, and general inquiries about taxes or life in Japan * Produce and communicate clear reporting on student outcomes and instructional quality for leadership and cross-functional teams **Our ideal candidate has:** * A Bachelor’s degree in Education (a Master’s in education or a related field is an advantage) * Fluent English proficiency * Japanese proficiency (would be an advantage) * At least 5 years of experience in education, 2 years in a management or team/teacher-leadership capacity * Direct classroom teaching or tutoring experience, and credibility with teachers as a practitioner * Proven success developing educators through training, coaching, and structured professional development * Experience overseeing curriculum quality and instructional standards across subjects or programs * Familiarity with feedback and quality systems such as QA reviews and NPS * Data- and outcomes-driven decision-making skills * Strong people-management, communication, and stakeholder-management skills * A genuine desire to build a long-term career and life in Japan * Understanding of the international school landscape and the journey into top US universities **Benefits:** * Competitive compensation package including a performance-based bonus biannually * Compensation is commensurate with experience * 20 days of paid time off per year * Visa sponsorship and relocation support (if needed) * Strong potential for career progression and diversification **Work hours:** * 40 hours / week, flexible schedule * Working in-person ~ Sunday to Thursday, 10 AM to 7 PM JST (flex time and remote days available)   **Primary Location:** * Hirose building 3F., 3-24-17 Nishiazabu, Minato, Tokyo 106-0031 The post [Teaching & Learning Manager (In-person)](https://jobsinjapan.com/jobs/1705369/teaching-learning-manager-in-person/) appeared first on [JOBS IN JAPAN](https://jobsinjapan.com).
