**City/State:** Nyack, New York **Department:** Float **Bargaining Unit:** NH- SEIU-1199 **Work Shift:** Day **Work Days:** ALTERNATE WEEKENDS, ALTERNATE WORK SCHEDULE, ROTATING SCHEDULE **Scheduled Hours:** 6:30 AM-3 PM **Scheduled Daily Hours:** 8.5 HOURS **Hours Per Pay Period:** 40 **Hourly Rate/Range:** 21.17-21.83 For positions that have only a rate listed, the displayed rate is the hiring rate but could be subject to change based on shift differential, experience, education or other relevant factors.   **Job Summary** The Tele-sitter provides continuous observation and surveillance of assigned patients via video-monitoring. Interacts with individual patients while "rounding". Provides verbal redirection to prevent patients from engaging in at risk behaviors and notifying the nursing staff if patient requires assistance. The Tele-sitter carries out various clinical responsibilities as well as documentation of tasks and supports and upholds the Patient Bill of Rights. **Essential Functions** * JOB SPECIFIC COMPETENCIES: Demonstrates the required job specific technical/professional knowledge, skills and abilities \* 1. Monitors and observes up to 15 patients on one screen at one time and remains alert while on duty 2. Maintains visual observation of patients at all times and communicates effectively using a microphone and headset 3. Communicates with hospital staff and responds quickly to patient and behavioral changes 4. Uses basic computer operation skills 5. Provides assistance to patients while “rounding”, including toileting 6. Collects data and charts observations and activities, reporting pertinent changes in the patient’s condition to the Registered Nurse. 7. Complies with hospital safety regulations, environment of care, risk management, and infection control policies. Assists in maintaining and providing a clean, safe environment. 8. Performs delegated or other specialized functions as educationally prepared. * Employee Performance Standards CUSTOMER SERVICE: 1. Completes projects/assignments within projected time frames and expectations. 2. Participates in committees and task forces as requested. 3. Performs other duties as assigned within classification. 4. Preferred * Previous clinical/direct patient care experience preferred. Preferred * Computer skills * excellent communication skills. * BLS within 1 month of hire Required * Nursing Assistant Certification preferred.
