Drive your career forward, with this opportunity as a **Test Engineer** located in **Indianapolis, Indiana.** **Summary:** As the **Test Engineer,** you will be responsible for planning, managing, developing and oversight of the execution of test procedures, data collection, and analysis.  Work involves testing/analyzing various powertrain systems/sub-systems in the test cell and/or vehicle level environment.  The Test Engineer will be responsible for standardizing procedures, configuring test systems, data collection & analysis, test reports and working closely daily as an interface between our valued internal/external business partners and support personnel.  The role will provide opportunity for hands-on involvement with Allison products, industrial test equipment, test operating controls systems, and powertrain systems including high horsepower engines, input and output dynamometers, propulsion systems, drivelines, heat exchangers, and cooling systems.  This person will share knowledge, assist and train other engineers by a team approach in all projects. **In this role, you will be a valuable part of the team by:** * _Establish and generate standard operating procedures and document practices_ * _Utilization of a systems engineering approach to design, develop, implement, and complete reliable, repeatable testing in support of business needs and timing_ * _Contribute and help lead department continuous improvement activities to increase testing efficiency, reduce cost, and drive high levels of quality_ * _Assumes appropriate responsibilities as a member of the assigned product development team_ * _Participates and leads planning efforts and/or status meetings_ * _Promotes collaboration on all work related assignments_ * _Maintains willingness to share professional knowledge and experience with teammates_ * _Plans, manages, and oversees the execution of product tests internal or external to Engineering Operations_ * _Creating, managing, and delivering multiple projects on-time and to budget_ * _Assures facilities and support areas are informed, equipped, and prepared to match the flow of test needs_ * _Issues the appropriate instructional documents (work requests) as required to initiate and support the flow of testing activities_ * _Assists in gathering, and performs analysis of test data to ensure its validity_ * _Communicate technical data to internal and external engineering organizations/agencies_ * _Has experience and basic understanding of computer programming to modify durability test cycles and post processing applications_ * _Documents test events/results through Test Reports, log entries and database entries as appropriate_ * _Prepares, or assists in preparation of program bids or requests for cost estimates_ * _Observes applicable procedures and practices as delineated in Test Operations Manual, PE Procedures, and Standard Procedures_ * _Manages, monitors, and assists in assembly process of test units and disposition of parts_ * _Adheres to and strives to improve the engineering development process_ * _Establishes and updates best practices and standardized testing procedures_ * _Other duties as assigned_ **To be successful in this role you will need the following:** * _Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Automotive Engineering or equivalent degree/experience_ Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: * _2+ years of Mechanical/Electrical/Automotive Engineering or equivalent experience_ * _Proficient in oral and written business communication_ * _High level of interpersonal skills_ * _Ability to set and meet goals for all deliverables_ * _Moderate/adept mechanical competence_ * _Proficiency with computer operations, including Microsoft Office tools_ * _Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings required_ Preferred Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: * _Experience in laboratory test environment_ * _Experience and knowledge of automatic transmission operation, clutches, controls (both hydraulic and electrical), hydraulics, gears, electric machines, and hybrid and electrified propulsion systems desired but not required_ * _Experience and understanding of computer programming in order to write & modify test cycles and support data analysis efforts_ * _Troubleshooting experience in electronic controls, mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical systems preferred_   Allison Transmission is an equal opportunity employer.
