Transfer Station Attendant

**The Dalles Disposal**, a Waste Connections company, is looking for a safety minded **Transfer Station Attendant** to join our team in **The Dalles, Oregon**. Schedule is **Tuesday - Saturday** Shift is **8:00 AM – 5:00 PM**, overtime opportunities often Starting wage is **$34.98/hour** with an increase to **$36.20/hour** at **6-months** pending a positive performance review. Safety Sensitive: **Yes** **DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:** * Greet and direct all customers and employees upon entry of the transfer station. * Safely and efficiently operate **forklift, backhoe**, and/or **front-end loader**. * May run errands using **company vehicle** as needed. * Measure trucks in and out and calculating payments for customers. * Track measurement information in computer system. * Ensure that incoming garbage loads are safe and do not contain any inappropriate material. * Work on your feet outside throughout your shift. * Assisting with office duties, filing and paperwork as needed. * Ensure that customers and employees conduct all business in a safe manner and wear all required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE). * Ensure proper care in the use and maintenance of equipment and supplies. * Promotes continuous improvement of workplace safety and environmental practices. * Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned. **REQUIREMENTS:** * Ability to **operate heavy equipment** safely and efficiently. * Ability to **operate a company motor vehicle** safely and efficiently. * Knowledge of light and heavy equipment operation and maintenance. * Must be dependable with an ability to lead. * Ability to work in all weather conditions. * Ability to lift 50+ lbs repeatedly throughout the day. * This is a physical job working in a covered area as well as outdoors in all weather conditions. * Ability to read, understand, follow, and enforce safety procedures. * Work environment involves some exposure to hazards or physical risks, which require following basic safety precautions. * To be eligible for employment, candidate must pass a **criminal background check**, & **drug panel screening** as well as have an **acceptable motor vehicle report**. **WHAT WE OFFER:** * Medical, Dental, and Vision Benefits * 401K * Uniforms/Safety Gear * Boot allowance of $300/year * Overtime * Year Round stable work To be considered for any of our current openings you must complete an application at [www.wasteconnections.com](http://www.wasteconnections.com).
