**Job Title: Ultrasound Technologist**
**FULL TIME - DAYS**
The Ultrasound department, also known as Sonography, specializes in imaging that uses high-frequency sound waves to create real-time images of the body’s internal structures.
Obstetric Ultrasound: Monitoring fetal development during pregnancy.
Abdominal Ultrasound: Evaluating organs like the liver, kidneys, gallbladder, and pancreas.
Cardiac Ultrasound (Echocardiography): Assessing heart function and detecting abnormalities.
Vascular Ultrasound: Checking for blood clots, blockages, or circulation issues in veins and arteries.
Musculoskeletal Ultrasound: Evaluating soft tissue injuries, joint abnormalities, and fluid collections.
**Job Description:**
An ultrasound technologist (also known as a diagnostic medical sonographer) plays a critical role in a hospital setting by performing diagnostic imaging procedures using ultrasound equipment. Here’s a detailed breakdown of their responsibilities:
* Perform diagnostic ultrasound examinations for subsequent evaluation under the direction of Director of Radiology and Radiologist.
* Assist Radiologist with patient during examinations and procedures.
* Participates in CQI activities and provides input for improvement.
* Replenish supplies.
* Assures safe operation and daily maintenance of ultrasound equipment.
* Must pass initial competency test and yearly competency testing thereafter.
* Occasionally performs duties of Staff Radiologic Technologist and assumes other duties as necessary, assigned by the Director of Radiology.
* Must maintain current BLS.
**Essential Qualifications:**
* Must be a Radiologic Technologist with a current Kentucky certification
* Must be a registered ultrasound technologist (ARDMS) or be registry eligible
* BLS required.
