Please [click here](https://www.shrinerschildrens.org/en/locations?listPage=1) to learn more about our locations. **Job Description** **Job Summary** The Patient Care Assistant II (PCA II) provides direct patient care and support under the supervision of a registered nurse, ensuring a safe, clean, and therapeutic environment for inpatient services. This role focuses on assisting patients with activities of daily living, maintaining unit readiness, and contributing to a positive patient experience. **Key Responsibilities** * Assists in the delivery of patient care under the supervision of a Registered Nurse. * Provides direct patient care and performs routine tasks as assigned. * Consistently demonstrates caring and appropriate behavior when interacting with patients and families. * Assists with the planning and provision of structured, age-appropriate activities for patients under the guidance or direction of a Child Life Therapist. * Monitors children’s activities and maintains a safe physical and psychosocial environment for children. **Required Qualifications** * Current Certified Nursing Assistant Certification * Current American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers * Must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and assessment skills necessary to communicate, educate, and provide a therapeutic and safe environment for the specific developmental age groups served between birth and 21 years of age * Ability to prioritize and manage time effectively to assure completion of patient care activities * Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills **Preferred Qualifications** * Experience in pediatrics/orthopedics * Bilingual English/Spanish * Two years of hospital experience The pay range for this position is $19.97 - $29.95. Compensation is determined based on years of relevant experience and departmental equity.
