Job Description

**Volunteer Description:** Unpaid volunteer contributing time to Intermountain Healthcare in various roles. Volunteer Opportunities ======================= Patient Care Volunteer ---------------------- Provide compassionate companionship and emotional support to hospice patients and their families. Volunteer activities may include: * Social visits and meaningful conversation * Reading aloud * Playing games * Participating in music or art activities * Writing or recording personal and family histories Respite Care Volunteer ---------------------- Provide temporary relief for caregivers who may be physically and emotionally exhausted. This valuable support allows caregivers time to: * Run errands * Exercise * Rest and recharge * Attend personal appointments * Spend time with family and friends Bereavement Support Volunteer ----------------------------- Support patients and families throughout the end-of-life journey and grief process by: * Assisting with support groups and memorial services * Providing follow-up support to bereaved families * Creating hand molds for patients and families * Collaborating with social workers and chaplains Office Support Volunteer ------------------------ Help hospice staff with administrative and organizational tasks, including: * Preparing and mailing birthday cards * Assembling informational and mailing packets * Making supply and check-in calls to patients * Assisting with hospice events and special projects Volunteer Qualifications ======================== To become a hospice volunteer, applicants must: * Be at least 18 years of age * Be able to work independently within assigned responsibilities * Demonstrate strong communication and interpersonal skills * Practice active listening and show empathy toward others * Maintain appropriate professional boundaries * Possess emotional maturity and sound mental health * Be sensitive to the needs of patients and families * Work effectively with individuals from diverse backgrounds and family situations * Remain calm and professional in stressful situations * Be self-motivated, dependable, flexible, and adaptable * Commit to volunteering at least **2 hours per week** for a minimum of **6 months** * Have reliable transportation, as our service area extends from **Eagle Mountain to Santaquin** ### **Make a Difference** As a hospice volunteer, you have the opportunity to bring comfort, companionship, and support to patients and families during one of life's most meaningful journeys.
